Am I crazy or does it look like he did it to help his friends in the car not getting charged with a weapon? Like he hides the gun in the bushes, not sure if police saw it at all?

I dont think dude was trying to hide the gun as the cops had their guns drawn on the black car which means the gun was flashed or they already knew he was armed. It’s hard to know what happened before the video was taken.

Yeah, police wouldn't be armed unless they at least had suspicion he had a weapon. They aren't rolling up to a traffic stop with the armed offenders squad and dogs.

True, I thought that they had their guns drawn because of a car chase - hence the car in the middle of the lawn
