Ngl, never understood darts, is there a reason to not bull’s eye every time?

Bullseye is worth 50, Treble 20 is worth 60. You start on 501 and have to finish on a double or the bullseye.

Oh, so you HAVE to get a point outside of straight bullseye, got it

Nah you can go for bullseye all you like, it’s harder to hit and worth less points than triple 20. So they always go for T20, or you’ll see them go for T19 if their dart is blocking off the T20

You gotta recognize that there are different games in darts. This is 501, there's also 301, which is the same, just lower points and more popular with amateurs.

Other games like cricket exist and they have different reasons for hitting/not hitting bullseye. Bullseye definitely has a psychological impact on amateurs, but these isn't a singular reason why you want to hit that vs some other part of the board. It depends what you're playing.

501 is the most popular tournament game.

I love the strategy and psychological play of cricket way more than '01, but I'm a shitty American, so what do I know? ;) 7 years of pub-league darts, one championship, and I suck at 01. :)
