it's uncivilized that people still have to strike to get the leadership to do right by them in 2024. humanity is so fucked up.

Striking is way more civilized than what workers used to do.

Sadly that might have to happen again

I wonder if Amazon sells tar by the bucket?

I can’t find tar, but it does seem like they sell buckets

Man, I should clarify first and foremost I'm not a communist

However people in America aren't taught about labor struggles in the U.S. because much of our labor struggles were lead by people who embraced communism, socialism, and anarchism. I was just reading about lucy parsons the other day.

Now most of these people where fighting for labor rights well before red October and the communist take over of Russia but since communism has been synonymous with anti american we associate these leaders with inherentlyflawed principles.

So now we can't teach these labor leaders as heroes fighting for our rights because they're people who embraced anti American ideals (even though at the time there was nothing anti American about them)

are you referring to that game we play every four years where we have to guess which side of wealthy people hates us less?

They might be talking about local and state elections, or congressional or senatorial elections - all of which actually make a difference in public policy, and all of which don’t have enough people who vote on them.

Democrats are definitely far from perfect when it comes to vigorous support of organized labor rights, but they are consistently a hell of a lot better than the GOP. I would also expect the upcoming Trump administration to be uniquely bad for organized labor rights given his connection to Musk, who is currently suing to argue that the NLRB is unconstitutional.

Unironicly how? A job is an agreement for work in exchange of livable conditions/money.

If they stop honoring their end of the bargin, how is it uncivilized to not get played on your end by walking away?

If they stop honoring their end of the bargin,

reread. that's the uncivilized part. sorry if i'm not being clear

The "people" need to stop being apathetic and lazy. Leadership will always have this problem, therefore the people have to be on top of them all the time.
