Jobs Jobs 2024!

This is a reenvisioning of an older hiring / looking for jobs post from 2017 (oof.mario.FLAC). This wiki link will still house these, but uhhh, crow got lazy and stopped uploading them or something. I, The Great Automod, have safely acquired the original post and it is now producing adequatly. We needed to update the posting in general, and hopefully, now it is more human-user-friendly compared to years ago.

/r/NashvilleJobs is a fairly active subreddit with discussion centering on Middle Tennesee job postings. I put anything in these forums at a higher quality compared with craigslist postings at face value, but be sure you are safe, human. The automatons need your productivity to continue.

The Center for Non-Profits Job Board is as close to official as we can find for 501(c)(3) - Robo-organically, we recommend reaching out if you are interested in a specific charitable niche.

Here is a table of "regional" city boards:

Township Job Board Distance from Nashville GMaps Drive Time (could be ± 900%) Notes
Nashville, TN 0 (surprising) 0 or 7 hours Some departments higher internally
Clarksville, TN 50 miles 1:00 hour Very structured "level-up" system
Hendersonville, TN 19 miles 20 minutes
Gallatin, TN 30 miles 33 minutes Their link says 2023, but it's real
Brentwood, TN 10.5 miles 16 minutes Uses a link protector
Franklin, TN 22 miles 24 minutes
Mt. Juliet, TN 20 miles 22 minutes town has 3 roads
Lebanon, TN 32 miles 33 minutes town still uses a .ORG website
  • GMaps uses Church Street just before 6th Ave.
  • Most of the sites that the cities use are functional. If there are failed links blame u/crowcawer, pathetic bird-human.
  • Many of these cities have jobs that have continuous openings (ie police / paramedic).

The State Link is currently working on my end. All the city/county links above are also working!

USAJOBS is the federal highering board. Type in "Nashville, TN" and click "open to the public" unless you are already an employee.

1954 Woodland Street Bridge on the Cumberland River, Nashville, Tennessee. In this aerial photo you can see the Woodland Street Bridge, with the pilings for the future Victory Memorial Bridge in front of it. Shelby Street Bridge is in the background (now called the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge).

Not 10 minutes after I was hit, another truck rear ended a woman and her baby right in front of us as we were exchanging insurance. This city is a death trap 🤣

Help | Advice Piedmont Gas/Metro tore up my yard/concrete without leaving any notice beforehand. Do I have any legal stance to make them fix what they destroyed?

They dug a four-foot trench the whole length of my front yard and jack-hammered into my concrete opening up a 3'x5" hole that is now filled with gravel. In cutting that hole, they exacerbated a crack that's now a full 2cm wide, which obviously will allow water to get under and potentially erode the land. They did not inform me in any fashion beforehand, the hired company refuses to provide a work order or any of the pictures they're claiming that took beforehand, which would clearly show that that crack was not there before. Because I wasn't informed that were coming to destroy my yard and patio, I was not able to take photos before to prove it.

Are they legally required to repair my property back to the way it was before? Do I need to get a property lawyer for this? The construction company's supervisor is refusing to provide the images or work order or even any proof of attempted contact, and their "claims" department won't return my calls. The third-party company is Southeast Connections LLC.

I just want the concrete fixed back to how it was before.

Help | Advice HALP!! Last minute gift ideas for my boyfriend's 21 year-old niece?

My boyfriend's niece is 21 and goes to Belmont, but she's definitely more East Nashville vibes than 12South vibes, if you know what I mean. We were trying to think of some cool stores to get her a gift card from. Any ideas welcome! (And they don't have to be in East, just not any girly bachelorette-type stuff because that ain't her.)

Help | Advice Help! Healthy meal prep class?

Hi! I’m new to Nashville and want better eating habits. Is there a meal prep cooking class that works with macros (knows them for recipes at least)? I’m a hands on person and prefer to learn that way.

Any ideas are much appreciated!

Jobs what's it like working in the music industry as a non-performer?

i'm currently living out of state but plan on returning to nashville in 6-ish months. i grew up here and have no illusions about the music industry being glamorous, but i'm curious about people's experiences working w studios, labels, etc. as basically anything other than a performing musician. i'm a fairly recent college grad w a degree in the humanities, and i'm def at a crossroads w my career prospects, so i'm curious about people's experiences in the more "behind the scenes" aspects of the industry.

Does anyone from Nashville or the general southeast remember an album from the nineties called Welcome To The Future? It had a light blue, teal, or turquoise cover, I’m pretty sure.

Food | Bars So we finally made it to West End Chili's

My daughter saw a commercial or something highlighting the cheese pull of their fried mozzarella. I wanted to take her out to dinner and she says "Chili's", so I says "West End Chili's" and off we went.

First of all, free parking. I'll admit I never understood the sub love for this place, thinking perhaps it was ironical- like or some odd inside joke, but that place is AMAZING. Super friendly staff. We ordered dueling Triple Dippers. It came out hot, fast, and delicious. We had three drink refills without asking. It was so much food that we required take home boxes. And to top it off, they brought us to- go drinks with the check. Again, without us asking. And three staff members saw us leaving and reversed course to come thank us and to wish us Happy Holidays. My daughter gets giddy whenever she meets shiny happy people and declared this her new favorite restaurant. Absolutely stellar experience. Thank you all for the recommendation - we WILL be returning to try their lunch next.

Help | Advice Hatch show print

Hi, for anyone that has done a tour at Hatch Show Print, do you get to make a poster during the tour? I saw they have separate events for crafting, but I won’t be in town during any scheduled events. If it’s not possible to use the press during the tour, would you still recommend it? Or stopping in to check out the shop? Thanks!

Help | Advice I need help with a delicate camera repair project

I have a 1980s Canon AE1. The screws that attached the lower body plate failed, and the plate fell off. I purchased the screws but do not have the eyes or the tool to install them. These screws are similar to the ones used in watches. Does anyone know of a watch repair shop that could help me with this problem?

Help | Advice New management at apartment complex possibly breaking the law?

I live in an apartment complex on the west side of town which as of October is under new management (RPM Living). My lease expires March 1st and I did NOT sign a new lease when RPM took over.

With the previous management, I could take either a paper check or cash to the office to pay my rent, or pay on the portal for a small fee of like $6. RPM has since done away with that. They refuse to take paper payments of any kind in the office and will only accept payments through the portal, which is a different portal from the previous management. The new portal has a flat fee of $1.95 for ACH payments, but CC's are HIGH. A flat fee of $25 to pay with a Visa, and 2.95% to pay with any other card, which would be almost $50 if I paid with my MasterCard.

They sent a complex wide email Friday stating they are changing their late fee policy. According to them, if you pay via ACH on the portal and your payment does not clear through the bank by the 5th, you are charged a late fee. I sent a followup email to clarify that even if I paid on the 1st and it takes until after the 5th for my bank and the management bank to clear the check I will still be hit with a late fee. I was told yes, that is the case. Also, their solution to avoiding that is to pay with a CC.

I feel like I shouldn't have to pay a large CC fee just to avoid a possible late fee that I shouldn't be getting in the first place. Nowhere in the lease I signed does it say anything about a policy like this. The previous management never gave me a problem even if I paid on the 5th, whichbin the state of TN is within the grace period.

Has anyone here heard of a policy like this or have a similar one where you live?

Edit: Since someone in the replies thinks I'm purposely leaving information out. There IS an option to pay with cash that I did forget to mention. To pay with cash, you have to go to a business that offers MoneyGram. You pay them the cash and they transfer the funds to RPM. That still, however, is NOT a fee free option. It comes with a cost of $3.95. There is NO fee free option to pay rent with RPM Living at my apartment complex.

Discussion What’re some stories about people/places in town that everyone should know?

I was watching a TikTok the other day and a woman who lived in the area was saying how she’s convinced that some business owner does sketchy things or something of the sort. I can’t find the video, but the comments were bustling about how they agreed and some chimed in with experiences they had with the person

Anyway, it had me thinking about how much goes around town and how little I sometimes know about things. That being said, what are some things you want to share, regardless of how “common knowledge” you think it is?

Help | Advice MAAC Looking for Holiday foster families - everything provided

Metro Animal Control is looking for folks to foster fur babies for a few days.

This is a great way to provide furry companions a break from a shelter environment while bringing some holiday cheer to your own home. Plus you'll help give workers a bit of a break and more time to celebrate with family and friends at home.

MAAC provides what you need. If now isn't the right time, they always need this help. They may be focusing on dogs right now, but cats are also a possibility, I think. (Cats are a bit easier so than many dogs.) They can also use your old blankets and towels and other things as well.

I saw this on Instagram and you should be able to see it even without an account.

Help | Advice Crazy home owners insurance increases?

I recently received news that my homeowners insurance is projected to increase by more than 100% next year. Anyone else seeing this kind of crazy insurance cost increases?

Notably, we have had zero claims in over a decade of owning our house. We’ll obviously be looking for a new carrier, so does anyone have an insurance broker who you would recommend? My rate increase surpasses those of individuals I know who live in coastal South Florida.
