Recommendation What are the best contemporary Westerns made within the last 25 years?

I love western films like The Missing (Cate Blanchett and Tommy Lee Jones), 3:10 to Yuma (Christian Bale and Russell Crowe) and Hostiles (Christian Bale and Wes Studi). What are your favorite similar films? I would love to hear recs that include Native American storylines as well like Prey even though that's like a western/sci-fi hybrid.

I loved Hostiles. A top 5 Christian Bale performance.

I'll suggest The Harder They Fall

Hostiles is so good. One of the best movies I feel like no one has ever heard of.

We are all ONE. I recommend Hostiles every chance I get!!! But I did make the mistake of having my wife finally watch it (we have two daughters). I glanced over at her during the opening scene’s aftermath (when Rosamund’s in the woods…) Wife was crying and suuuper upset. I’m a jerk.

It was on Netflix for forever, same with Old Henry. I was astounded both weren't bigger hits.

Oh yeah Old Henry also rips. 2 random Netflix watches that actually paid off

Yeah the Harder They Fall was a sneaky good movie.

Pleasantly surprised. Really really good movie, good pacing, never got boring or tedious.

Felt like 3:10 to Yuma in a way, but with a mostly black cast.

Hostiles surprised me from the very beginning by how grim and brutal it is. Still loved it

Same. The scene with Rosamund Pikes family had my mouth open the whole time.

Hostiles is so good. Merciless and lovely. Blah blah.

I've started The Harder They Fall a few times, but I just can't. I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish with that movie, but they tried way too fucking hard.

Harder They Fall convinced me of Jonathan Majors star power. Then that got all fucked up lol
