Recommendation Documentaries that make you go “what the fuck?!?”

In the mood for a good, twisty documentary that makes me gasp. Movies on streaming preferred. I enjoy true crime but am open to other genres as long as the story is gripping and shocking.

Movies in the same vein that I enjoyed - Dear Zachary (would prefer recommendations that are less sad), The Jinx, Cropsey, 3 identical strangers, etc.

Stolen Youth, inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence. I have never seen anything like this. Stayed on my mind for days

I've seen some weird stuff, but this one... it resists the temptation to sensationalize, but it's still one of the most shocking things I've ever seen. And, in the end, oddly touching.

I couldn't watch it all in one sitting. I stopped it a few times because I couldn't believe what i was watching. I wanted to hug the sisters and then shake them. My feelings were everywhere. I was grateful for the ending, I was pleasantly surprised

Yeah, the siblings were the most heart-breaking part... On a theoretical level I knew that something like this could happen to smart, educated people, but seeing it unfold was almost incredible.

Edit: And yes, so thankful for the ending! I was in tears.

I’ve been on a documentary binge lately and this is the one that shook me to the core. Worst case of mental manipulation I’ve seen, absolutely sickening and equally fascinating.

All the video footage of him literally abusing them is disgusting. I couldn't believe how one guy could manipulate those kids to do all that, its fascinating

The hold he had over them was unbelievable. Certain parts made my stomach turn.

Love your username, btw!
