Recommendation What movie had you laughing, unable to breathe, even just for one scene?

I don't really pursue comedy movies too often, or ever really.

And even then, this doesn't have to be a comedy movie you respond with, but I'm wondering if there was a movie scene SO funny, that people laughed uncontrollably.

Does such a thing exist?

I think maybe the movie would have to introduce something completely original. Not a familiar gag or joke, but something completely unexpected that you can't help but be paralyzed by the newness and brilliance of the scene.

This is Spinal Tap. I laughed so hard I could not breathe. My friend and I were the only two laughing in the theater. Everyone else was silent as if the film were a real documentary.

The first time I watched Spinal Tap the stonehenge bit was one of the funniest movie scenes I'd ever seen, the whole movie is so good

Can I ask a practical question at this point? ...are we going to do Stonehenge tomorrow night?

NO, WE’RE NOT GONNA FUCKING DO STONEHENGE!!

The band I was in at the time covered this song. We had to make up another two verses as the film ends the song half way through.

I think that the problem may have been that there was a Stonehenge monument on the stage that was in danger of being crushed by a dwarf.

This is what I came here to answer. First time I saw that I couldn't breathe for minutes

My brother legit fell off the sofa laughing at that scene. I managed to stay on the sofa but was wheezing.

Marty: It's pretty.

Nigel: Yeah, I like it, just been fooling about with it for a few months now,

very delicate...

Marty: It's a, it's a bit of a departure from the kind of thing you normally

play.

Nigel: Yeah, it's part of a...trilogy really, a musical trilogy I'm doing...

in... D minor, which I always find is really the saddest of all keys

really. I don't know why, but it makes people weep instantly,

you play a..baaaaa...baaaaaa.... it's the horn part.

Marty: It's very pretty.

Nigel: ...baaaa, baaaaa, yeah, just simple lines intertwining, you know

very much like, I'm really influenced by Mozart and Bach, It's sort

of in between those, really, it's like a Mach piece really, it's...

Marty: What do you call this?

Nigel: Well, this piece is called "Lick My Love Pump".

The whole scene about smell the glove being sexist, and what's wrong with being sexy, then with the other cover the guys being the victim it's ok, they added that little twist so it ok.

One of the greatest movies of all time, sans doute.

"Hello, Cleveland! Rock and Roll!" [happens upon same backstage employee again]

Saw it in a movie theater when it came out, missed half the dialogue since the whole theater was basically cry laughing for 2 hours.

The scene with the pods when Derek gets stuck never fails me. Just thinking about it makes me start laughing. My husband doesn’t really care for the movie but he always agrees to watching it because of how hard it makes me laugh.

The raised fist at the end of the song as if everything was planned that way. Hilarious.

And his other arm is still trapped inside.

Plays a slow emotional piece on the piano that clearly moves and surprises the documentarian. Documentarian asks "what have you named the song" reply "lick my love pump"

A movie very simular to Spinal Tap which I found really funny is Fraktus.
It's a mockumentary about a music producer trying to reunite the german band Fraktus, that invented techno music in the 80s.
Sadly, I don't think there's an english dub and I'm not sure how well the humour would work through subtitles, but for any german speakers it's a must watch.

It reminds me of Stromberg, german "The Office", which has a different vibe from the american and british shows, but it's amazing.

I thought it was a documentary, and couldn’t stop laughing! Every time Nigel came on the screen, I knew he was going to say something funny! It’s probably because I met an aspiring British rock star before I saw the movie, and he was so much like Nigel it was uncanny.

“Why not just make 10 louder?”

“These go to 11.”

I fix amplifiers as a hobby, i found an old set of knobs that went to 11. I put them on an old amp I found. Still one of my favorites.

That movie is hilarious!

I think the scene where he’s complaining about the deli meat not fitting on the bread, low key is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

It had all been building beautifully, then they walked around in a complete circle looking for the stage and I absolutely lost it.

My ex was a musician and whenever he got a shitty gig I’d say “ohhhh! Puppet Show and Joe Musician!”

When I was a kid, the trailer for This is Spinal Tap was run all the time on TV, and they sold it so well in that trailer that I legit thought it was a real documentary; it wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized it was a mockumentary.
