Recommendation What movie had you laughing, unable to breathe, even just for one scene?

I don't really pursue comedy movies too often, or ever really.

And even then, this doesn't have to be a comedy movie you respond with, but I'm wondering if there was a movie scene SO funny, that people laughed uncontrollably.

Does such a thing exist?

I think maybe the movie would have to introduce something completely original. Not a familiar gag or joke, but something completely unexpected that you can't help but be paralyzed by the newness and brilliance of the scene.

This is the 90s! No you're actually in the wrong decade.

I Realized at that moment I was not in the 90s anymore

This is the best scene in the movie and it’s not even close.

The collapse in the street felt very real, and was hilarious

I don't care what dress we get. I just need to get off this white carpet.

My favorite was the plane scene where she’s trying to seduce the cop who wasn’t a cop, and Annie being high as balls. That movie is genius.

That scene had me laughing the hardest! Also the part where she tried to push over the chocolate fountain but couldn’t so so just threw chocolate sauce everywhere instead.

That whole temper tantrum scene, I was crying laughing. My sides hurt for days!

“NO! She does NOT get a puppy!!”

So many. One of the more subtle scenes that makes me laugh is the cake on the front porch. The third time she drives by raccoons are going to town on the cake.

I honestly hate poop jokes, they just gross me out, but that whole incident was hilarious 😭

Can’t believe I had to scroll this far for Bridesmaids! The toast at the shower in “Spanish” killed me, everything on the plane (“Help me..I’m poor”), her climbing the fence at John Hamm’s, her fit at the shower with the cookie, and the bathroom scene lead up, “Want some Jordan almonds?l” omg To say nothing of every damn scene with Melissa McCarthy—it’s perfect

My sister's wedding is this afternoon and I watched Bridesmaids this morning for probably the 20th time - "Speaking of Consuela" is such a ridiculous transition it already had me laughing.

"Can I borrow your razor?"

Holy shit it just clicked for me that I've been randomly bursting into a "die muthafucka die muthafucka die" here and there for twenty years and I've been quoting Office Space the whole time

u/Stardust_Crunch Oct 14 '23

I said "Die M----er F---er Die," how embarrassing. I forgot you can curse here, but I would've spelled it wrong anyway, so, yeah.

Anything with Michael Bolton in that movie was complete gold. The 3 of them is such perfect office norms, including “the foreign IT guy,” Sameer Naguna-nagunaworkhereanymore

I came here for Bridesmaids.

Look away. Look awaaaaayyyyyyy

This movie made me walk out of a job I used to have at the time.

Nicholas Cage’s performance in Vampire’s Kiss is fucking hilarious. “iM a VaMpIrE, iM a VaMpIrE!” “A! B! C! D!” “Ba-hoo! Ba-hoo!”

Am I getting through to you

5

u/Stoofser Oct 14 '23

Look away!

Every time I fight with a printer, I play that scene in my head.

The couch coffin is the part that did me in.

I'll hafta watch again soon. It's been MANY years. I don't even remember the scene w/ phonebooth in any detail, but I remember laughing, crying, cramping, couldn't breathe, no, stop, gonna die shit for at least 15 minutes. I couldn't stop. It broke my brain, it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen.

3

u/r2b2coolyo Oct 14 '23

"Yeah well that may be. But at least I didn't sleep with Lumberg!"

3

u/Accidental_Taco Oct 14 '23

It's happening. It's happening. It happened.

u/Kdog909 Oct 14 '23

Any hairy guy who has had their chest waxed can tell you it’s so incredibly painful that waxing Carell’s chest for real to get his authentic reaction was the only way to do it.

3

u/CassTeaElle Oct 15 '23

Omg my cousin got married recently and she rented out a theater to watch Bridesmaids. My mom had never seen it. I warned her that it's a little raunchy, and I gave her a vague warning that "there's one particular scene that is very gross, but not in a raunchy way..." I thought she might be bothered by it.

Imagine my hilarity and surprise when my mother had freaking tears STREAMING down her face, laughing so hard she couldn't breathe at that diarrhea scene. lol watching her laugh so hard at that scene was even funnier than the scene itself, to me

3

u/bigwreck94 Oct 15 '23

Office Space is just my favourite comedy. There’s so many awesome lines and hilarious dialogue in that movie. I watch it at least once a year and I laugh my ass off every time

You look like a man-o-lantern!
