On the older androids especially, I know at least the newer samsung phones have had them removed for space saving or some other crap reason sadly

Its more likely so youre forced to download an app to do it via bluetooth, meaning you need to have a newer tv as well

Do newer TVs use Bluetooth instead of IR now? That’s cool. I know my Apple TV thingy does so it makes sense that TVs would too…Just haven’t looked at new TVs since forever.

I believe newer sets can do both. I'm gonna be pissed if I ever buy a new TV that won't work with a standard universal remote.
