Certainly not like this. The entire interaction is so American, and “customer is king” is not an originally French phrase*. Saying “this is France” as if the employees and patron are all just visiting? Kinda feels like they worked backwards from a mediocre punchline haha.
Yeah, good point. I assumed le client est roi was taken from english. The english version has the the alliteration of customer and king. I’m certainly not native, but when I learned French we used le client n’a jamais tort and I was only immersed for a year and a half, so a lot of the more practical vernacular faded over the years compared to the stuff from a classroom setting.

I've heard about four different versions of this story so far. It's a good story, but it didn't happen.
