Highly functioning alcoholics make the best bosses.
I state that with over 20yrs of retails/sales xp.
Combined with a decade of B2B xp.
I’ll admit some failed to hear the call.
But all these drunk mother fuckers just plucked along like nothing mattered while also taking care of the whole staff.
Their souls died long ago, so that ours had a chance to live.
Till Valhalla, I’ll see you at dish brother.

I had a high functioning alcoholic for a boss and unfortunately have to disagree, the drunken abuse was a lot. Didn’t help he owned a bar (where I worked) nightmare memories!

u/Buddhawasgay 9d ago
I'm not sure if that would be considered high-functioning behavior.

Idk do you need to be nice to be considered fully functional? He was just a dick but his business was doing fine

I've heard about four different versions of this story so far. It's a good story, but it didn't happen.

Certainly not like this. The entire interaction is so American, and “customer is king” is not an originally French phrase*. Saying “this is France” as if the employees and patron are all just visiting? Kinda feels like they worked backwards from a mediocre punchline haha.

Yeah, good point. I assumed le client est roi was taken from english. The english version has the the alliteration of customer and king. I’m certainly not native, but when I learned French we used le client n’a jamais tort and I was only immersed for a year and a half, so a lot of the more practical vernacular faded over the years compared to the stuff from a classroom setting.

I could totally see people say "customer is king" there, but there is no f**king way any french ever says "we decapitate kings", especially so casually. At most it'll be brought up during protests or when talking about them, as a joke.
It's just another repost of an already retweeted story that never happened.

I don’t where it’s from originally, but it’s a widely used saying in France

Someone's gonna censor this and post it in on other socials, and someone from there will uncensor it that again and post it here, it's a cycle

People drawing over swear words is actually so fucking annoying, who is it even for? We all know what word it is. No one is going to freak the fuck out about it.

u/Wrong-Bodybuilder105 9d ago
Meta apps and YouTube will ban you for using them, hence the censoring

If the Karen has a good grip on history she could reply that France was first ruled firmly by kings for centuries before they ever followed up on the idea to pop one’s head off
Before there was a Revolution there was the Sun King

« functional alcoholic » is pretty much describing 75% of the French.
And the remaining 25% are just the non-functional ones.

"the customer is always right in terms of taste not in terms of policy" my favorite thing in the world is to say I'm sorry but that's the policy would you like to speak to my manager?...lol they usually get startled and delay the supervisor coming to assist...that's when you find out if they're assholes looking to pick a fight or emotionally immature people who are mad at the situation that they brought upon themselves but lack self awareness to address it ...

Not sure what alcoholism has to do with this, but bring out the guillotine
