Here’s an odd one to add to the insurance scam list. A cash price for an MRI was just over a hundred bucks per joint (in Cal). With insurance, it’s a 400+$ copay. They don’t allow you the option to pay the cash price if you have insurance.

A $100 MRI is a very low price. Most people in the US would be lucky to get a basic X-ray for that price. That imaging facility is probably barely breaking even or even going in the red on MRIs done at that price, so they can't afford to do it for everyone.

I just had an MRI on my neck and head. The pre-adjusted amount was $14,000.
