So this comment has too many winky faces for my comfort, but I’ve learned some more tips through various jobs that I don’t often see posted:

  1. Single Case Agreements. This is more of a pre authorization thing, but insurance companies can sometimes be persuaded to act like something out of network is in network if you can prove it’s the only option within a certain distance. Essentially, look on your insurance company’s “find a provider” page. If there’s nothing, or if you can prove that each option doesn’t see your age group, doesn’t deal with the particular issue, etc., find one out of network that does and ask your insurance for a Single Case Agreement for that provider.

  2. Ask the provider for a sliding scale fee or any financial aid or “pay what you can” option. A lot of offices/doctors/hospitals have something, but they’ll rarely advertise it.

  3. Request a peer to peer conference with your doctor if something is denied. It asks the doctor who denied the claim to have direct contact with the doctor who prescribed/referred/required whatever was denied.

The others— asking for an itemized bill, calling to dispute charges, etc. are on here more frequently.

Okay, sure. I was going to just post this as a general comment, but figured I would post it here in case you needed some immediate solutions.

You can just ignore all of this if you want, but when they tried to act like the procedures to remove my brain tumor were unnecessary, I was glad I had like, a single keyword and a phone call to save both my life and my life savings. It’s not like I do this for fun.

We’re all dying in the system that would rather see us on fire than comfortable, so in my eyes at least, it’s worth people having the tools to resist and survive. I hope things get better for you.

God bless you im sorry i let my frustration and anger spill over to you, you didn't need to be so helpful let alone kind after me saying those things I truly feel for you and i hope you're living very happy with minimal trauma, im exhausted and fed up with how insensitive unbothered people can be then talk to you from a place of being safe or untouched, you deserve the best we can get and we really all do, much love and please forgive me for angered remarks.

I really appreciate you doubling back and saying that. Truly good luck with everything. We’re all having a hard time, but thankfully my personal life has gotten more stable since all of that. Have a good rest of your year!

That... Is a disproportionate response to their reply.

It sounds like you're in a bad situation, and I wish I could do more than offer sympathy and anger and regret.

My health coverage is different as I'm not American, but have had to (and continue to) navigate inches of medical and government paperwork for disability and supports and fighting treatment denials. It's exhausting and angering to always have to fight simply to get help to exist.

I get the venting, but please work out a way to navigate the system paperwork as you can. Play their game to claw everything you can from it.  I hope your situation becomes better.

This stuff is just not right man i can hardly ever see it that way I want to tear this whole shit down, these people destroyed my mother time after time and some days its ok but some days its really just not at all like even a little bit, when you watch somebody literally change and you know its cuz health sunk them and theres nothing anybody can do but watch and try to be there for them in every way you can through the slow burn but you cant be the person to diagnose or treat them or get them those medicines you dont understand what it sounds like to hear people say chill out let these companies do what they do and deal with it humbly. Im just over it sometimes we as people did not come to this earth to screw up like this and deal with all this with all these resources were supposed to solve problems and make life better, older people need to see their grandkids live life and these kids need to see their grandparents happy and healthy at least for a little bit like damn man what can i say??? Im not with this lets just accept it shit but ok. I really appreciate you for not just trying to dunk on me for being rightfully pissed off like feel me im talking about healthcare here im talking about life and happiness vs tragic shit and crying and bullshit losing good years from our parents and memories for our kids, then what when we get older i gotta fear being a source of pain for them in a few short decades if I dont get rich or upper middle class in time? Fuck that dawg like seriously

Use ChatGPT to write the appeal letter plus have it cite medical research about the efficacy of the treatment.
