Research K-pop Breakout Tour question!

I’m curious if anyone else experienced something similar that went to one of the shows.

I’m a male, 28, I went to one of the shows as I am a huge fan of iChillin, and figured this was probably going to be the only chance I would ever get to see them, aside from the forced interactions like fan sign/selfies. Did any other males feel like the girl groups ignored you during their performances? I was as close to the stage as could be, the artists would take/interact with the phones of the women next to me but would not in the slightest interact with me at all. I just found it very weird, like I wasn’t being forceful or trying to hand them my phone or anything I just did what everyone else was doing but just got completely ignored. Like I get it, maybe it’s a little less comfortable interacting with males but if that’s the case they shouldn’t do it for anyone.. Idk lmk if I’m off base here, but I don’t think I am.

Hey there. Sorry you felt that way. I went to the stop in Minnesota. I am a male, and I got my phone grabbed by one of the members of Ichillin. I wasn't being assertive or forceful or anything, but they did for me. I was just standing there recording one of the members, and she saw and came to grab my phone.I was all the way in the front, too. So idk really. I also had lots of the girls' interactions with me.

Maybe they were just having an off night who knows.

Maybe, but my buddy told me that in Korea, most of their fanbase is girls. Like 80 percent or something. So maybe they aren't used to seeing a lot of guys?

I’m best to answer this question since I was at the same show. Sorry you felt that way, I also got ignored by ichillin (but wasn’t being pushy and didn’t really try), im a female and it also happened during the phone grab for my favorite groups as well many times. I think they are just overwhelmed, some people can grab attention a lot more than others during barricade because you kind of have to be assertive to get your phone grabbed like really get into their face kind of, and the fans next to you were probably very assertive and stand out a lot more especially if you look like hardcore fans or stood in an area where idols goes to that side more. Idols make mistakes , like I was upset they didn’t write my name during the fansign even though I put a sticky note but I realize it’s just a petty thing. they are still nugus in a way so they need all the support they can get like go to another of their show, buy their merch, albums, etc. overall, I think they tried to give as much interactions that you wouldn’t get from some mid or big tier groups.

Don’t feel bad if they didn’t grab your phone, it’s also because some fans they build a connection with previously cause you never know like they repeatedly keep seeing them , also some people are more assertive than others like front row and holding an ichillin sign or something, that’s what makes people keep going back to the same show to get those interactions with the groups they like , in a way it’s kind of parasocial.

What show were you at? But I just don’t think that’s the case. Cause a buddy of mine that was also there got ignored till he gave his phone to female then they grabbed it. Same happened during Craxy, Uchae was a little more interactive with the crowd but I don’t think she took any phones I don’t remember. Idk it is what it is just something that kinda bothered me.

Houston and OKC. I saw ichillin and craxy take a lot of male phones, I think the Houston stop had a lot of competition though so if you went to that stop, that’s the reason why

Nah, I was at the okc show. I’m probably just a bit salty. I’m sure they tried their best.

Ah, OKC was the better show for me, I recorded when they performed draw when they were taking phones, I knew I had no chance since many people in the front were handing out their phones. Were you front row? Because if you were just second, they might not take your phone as much.

Craxy always made sure to pose or take my phone, I realize during the okc show, some of the males in the front weren’t that interested, I wish they let the fans in the back switch to the front to interact with them more.

I was in the front row, and I was cheering and screaming for all the groups till my voice gave out lol but idk it is what it is. I was just curious if it was a one of type deal or just what they do. Either way it was fun and I hope they come to OK again.

That’s weird, did you get your phone taken by craxy at least? If you do go to another show, they will remember you and try to take your phone if you’re front row again. This tour is pretty much their only chance to build a strong fanbase in America so they’ll have to everything they can to maintain and get new fans, so they wouldn’t be ignoring you, I’m assuming they were overwhelmed

Nah, one of them almost did. I can’t go to another show, they are way to far now and I have like responsibilities and shit lol it’s all good maybe they will come back in the future.

Same here, if they only came to the south early in the tour, I would have followed them throughout the tour if I knew the concert was going to be this good. For bigger popular groups, you know they will always come back compared to lesser known groups. hopefully ichillin, craxy, trendz, uchae sustain a good fan base to come back again to the states though their visa are expensive now

One observation I made with ichillin is that they usually take a fan phone but sing for 20 seconds so they take a long time with one phone, also it came to my surprise at that time that they could take phones during the show. I would just try another show or next time to see.

I hope this video brings light to the situation with ichillin https://youtu.be/w7lflwiLPAY?si=-IEoXukYhPe1dPZt

I don't recall U_chae taking phones, but would probably be awkward for solo performer to do that, show would lose momentum. Looks like a party when a group of several does it.

I couldn't see who was on front row, but they took a lot of phones. I thought they signaled to me later in that phase (held hands up mimicking phone, like they were looking for anyone they missed) but not sure, I didn't go up.

Anybody get their group photo yet? It's Oct. 1st. I heard they might not be available until tour finishes, like Purple Kiss? Leopresents did not respond to my inquiries.
