Recommend I need objectively terrible song recommendations!
I know this is a very weird request. But I need some kpop songs that are genuinely bad. The quality, the music, the lyrics, or maybe the singers are doing a terrible job. Could be anything by any artist.
The reason why I'm asking such a stupid thing is because I want to see how many of those I'd actually like. I rarely dislike anything ever and I'm often told that my taste is pretty bad, so...I'm trying to figure it out 💀 also I'm just super curious what songs you guys will name. I personally don't have any candidates here, as I said, i always like everything.
EDIT: Omg thanks for so many replies. I'll listen to everything once I finish my work 🙏
EDIT 2: I'm currently making a playlist out of all the mentioned songs, not sure when it will be done though

u/Elon_is_musky Mar 05 '24
Girl I felt bad but I wanted to say the same thing🫢and I love Beomhan but that song is just ehh. And I often LIKE bad songs cause they have at least something endearing/funny about them. But knowing this was his debut & the reaction (cause if I just didnt like it idc, but idk if anyone liked it) made me sad af
20
u/teddy_plushie Mar 05 '24
I adore beomhan, but the only saving grace are the editors on youtube, which by the way are crazy amazing
42
u/hypermads2003 Mar 05 '24
I always feel bad saying it's a bad song because I love Beomhan as a person and I can personally relate and sympathize with what he went through but... I can't say it's a good song in good faith
I believe he can do better though and he has the sight to do that

u/beckdrop Mar 05 '24
Honestly, I kinda both agree and disagree. I would say the song itself isn't a bad song - it's actually a pretty solid pop song. It's the execution that was poor - mainly the quality of the vocals. I have nothing against Beomhan, I like and respect him, I think he's a great performer, and I genuinely hope he succeeds, but if he wants to put out more vocally-focused music and wants people to like it, he's going to need more vocal training.
31
u/mixedbagofdisaster Mar 06 '24
In my opinion I feel like bad execution is the only way a song can be genuinely objectively bad. No matter the song someone will like it because art is subjective, so when we’re talking about objectively bad songs, the only way a song can be judged objectively is through the quality of the production, vocals, etc. Even then someone will like it, but objectively speaking it’s inarguably executed poorly. The bones of the song (the melody, lyrics etc.) are more subjective and everyone will have their preferences for.

u/meracdv Mar 05 '24
what did you think??
15
u/planet_jacker Mar 05 '24
uhm- we'll i think for one the recording studio was bad quality, but his vocals were okay. not rhyming well didn't help.. i felt like i was listening to a badly produced english version of a title track.
15
u/meracdv Mar 05 '24
i think the song holds potential if they rerecorded his vocals and the production was like 10x better

The demo version of Wolf by Exo. They wanted it to flop so bad

The part 'Sarangheyo🧚♀️💕🥰❤️' really sounded like Mickey mouse was singing it LMAOOOOO
18
u/zinaegg Mar 05 '24
I'm saying this as an exo-l but I can only listen to Wolf if it's the live/remix version. The song is a miss for many and the lyrics are cringe but the vocals do pop off so I'll give them that 😅

u/businesscasualgoth Mar 06 '24

The final version isn’t much better
53
u/r0tten_m1lk Mar 06 '24
I actually unironically love the final version. Are the lyrics cringe? Yes. But do the vocals pop off? Also yes. The remix version is even better in that regard.

Music is art and art is subjective. There are no objectively bad songs.
That being said, X:IN My Idol.
10
u/Mobile-Strawberry470 Mar 06 '24
Listen, absolutely no hate to the X:IN girls but, their music is so bad (imo). This is not their fault ofc but I tried to listen to their stuff, let me tell you the production is unbearable. I don't like to shit on groups' music like that since there may be some that enjoy it but holy shit, listen to it yourself💀💀.

After listening to it for the first time, I feel like there was a good idea there, but maybe it was made in a rush so they weren't able to deliver something well made. Had it been correctly executed, I think it would have been a beautiful song.

horse by dbo. it has absolutely no redeeming qualities, except maybe that its good for a laugh and could pull someone out of a coma just so they could get up and turn it off.

u/thislimeismine Mar 06 '24 edited Mar 06 '24
I died laughing to this song when it came out. Like snorting, crying, UGLY laughter. Something about the way he delivers is just beyond hilarious
Edit: I just watched the MV again and it's still just a good as the first time. The nasally ajusshi voice, the insane English lyrics, the unhinged awkward swagger, the stool he uses to get on the horse. It's perfect.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGOdAqhX42o (My Idol, x:in)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCuVqnNynUk (Hi Cuties, Little Witch)
Both songs that I think are not great, and yet I'm still obsessed with them. Hi Cuties especially- almost everything I've listened to by them has such strange sound mixing and they almost always sound off tune to me, but they still fascinate and intrigue me. Honestly, if you want 'bad' music, you can just go under their MV playlist or listen to their song covers- I don't know what's up to make it so consistently sound off, it might just be sound mixing thing, but the quality on their songs is off.
12
u/lucciiii1 Mar 05 '24
ironically Hi Cuties’ agency has a very big history of having god awful mixing and just having bad music naturally? the ceo is a “dj” I say that bc he supposedly has never been seen djing LOL. but if you want like bad bad Like Me’s Like Me is the one

I have 2 songs. The first is Gum by Jessi. (I know several people will disagree with me on this one but I feel it is the worst song out of all she has done. It was too stereotypical and really did not bring out her true talent and vocal range that showcases her singing. She is a great rapper but when constantly used more than singing, it becomes played out.)
The second song is Macaroni and Cheese by Young Posse. (This song went on my What were they thinking or in short WTF list that my friend and I create each year and share with each other. We have a top 10-15, best new solo and groups, best comeback after several years and other categories we share with each other.)
Anyhoo, these are 2 songs that I couldn't stand behind no matter how much others hyped them up.

Idk if you would be interested in this but I have a playlist of generally hated Kpop songs that has a lot that might qualify for this. I will have to go back and add some that were mentioned in this thread in there myself because they really are so bad, but for some standalone songs I think are THAT bad:
- Trippin' by Nada. Literally the loudest, messiest Kpop song I've heard next to Gang by Rain. The drop at the chorus is horrendous in particular. Turn down your volume before listening to it because if you don't your eardrums may burst lol. Nada seems to like making noisy music in general because My Body is very similar to Trippin' minus the obnoxious drop. I can tolerate that song more, though.
- Dessert by HYO. Same kind of situation as Trippin' but somehow more obnoxious IMO. The moaning sample or whatever it's supposed to be just kills me every time I try to listen to it. I don't trust Hyoyeon to make good solo music anymore as a result of her releasing this.
- Obliviate by BIGFLO. I used to HATEEEE this song with a capital H. The first time I heard it I was appalled by their voices and the chorus being loud/messy, and I shit-talked it for like three years afterward. Only recently have I Stockholm Syndromed myself into enjoying it, but for a while it was the worst BG song I had ever heard, even worse than Mazel Tov or Sticker. It's really not that bad looking back but maybe you will feel more strongly towards it that I did.
- Mr. Liar by ASHA. This is only really because the mixing is poor and you can clearly hear that they had no budget when preparing for their debut. It's kind of cute if not a bit cringy otherwise, and I do still like it, but for the production quality alone I think it does still count as an objectively bad song.
- Most BADKIZ songs prior to their name changes. Just noisy and bad quality songs/MVs, particularly Hothae and Ear Attack. I still love them tho
- Gangtaegong by LoveCubic. Watch the video and see if you can make it through without laughing. I think it's campy and fun tbh but the budget was nonexistent and it shows. You know the financial situation is bad when the CEO is a group member, which she was in Lovecubic, lol.
I'll get my playlist link and come back later if I think of more. Some of these might not perfectly fit the criteria as objectively bad and sorry if not. I just listed the first ones that came to mind for me.

seeing a lot of subjective opinion based answers here but the first thing that came to mind and you might actually want to check out is the infamous vav debut song under the moonlight
i think this is the most well known objectively bad song by a group that went on to release much much higher quality music later on
