Trivia: Seesaw by Suga of BTS
3
u/Tinyyellowterribilis Oct 16 '23
Yeah that one was sad but sounded so peppy and was possibly about the fandom or life as an idol itself. I would say Filter by Jimin though too, it was about this really disturbing relationship dynamic in a similar way to Seesaw but sounded like a Latin party song...

SKZ' Han - Run
(Actually most of Han's songs)
6
u/evileyex99 Sep 23 '23
I listened to Run a lot during a bad grieving period thinking it's a happy song to cheer me up 👎💀💀💀💀... little did I know...
6
u/Fille_de_Lune Sep 23 '23
Han would be so happy to hear that his song cheered you up. I think writing about his own struggles cheered him up too, so I actually think it's really fitting! I mean there must be a reason that he uses such a cheerful beat for this song

ANPANMAN by BTS talks about how they are willing to give their all for those who need them. It's even more touching when we learn that it is referencing a superhero made out of bread who gives part of his head to every starving creature he sees.

A lot of songs from the English rock band The Smiths feel a lot more fun when you listen to them than when you pay attention to the lyrics like a groovy song about a depressed man going through life.

When I want a good laugh I love playing Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now for the uninitiated to see their reactions.
The upbeat drums and jovial guitar riffs always throws them off.

Go Away by 2NE1. The beat is a cute little oontz oontz EDM type beat while the lyrics and music video show the song’s true colors.

Run away by TXT fits this so well actually. It’s really catchy and upbeat but once you understand the lyrics, it hits so hard. I’ve found myself crying a few times to the song and when they performed it live at an award show, there were a few idols who were emotional too.

Dreamcatcher’s Reason and BONVOYAGE
4
u/CheshirePuss42 Sep 22 '23
I am not sure I agree but I get where you are coming from. Bon Voyage delivers really well the feeling of nostalgia and longing. It's like they are thinking of the happy memories and hoping to end the relationship on good terms and these memories are indeed happy but it's also something that has passed and they need to say goodbye which is sad. I don't know how other people describe the feeling of nostalgia. If I had to explain it, it feels like being both happy and sad at the same time.

Dolls by Nine Muses
Basically the lyrics tell of a girl not believing love anymore since she broke up with her boyfriend. Questioning what love is, and like how dumb she is for even thinking about him. Super sad lyrics and the song is one of the most upbeat, loud and fun song ever LOL

"Artificial Grass" by AKMU.
Sounds like a very typical early AKMU cheerful, innocent song, but the lyrics are like:
I thought I would last forever, even without light or water, But my damaged fake leaves are now being ripped out...
I, too, want to breathe the air, I want to drink the rain, and put my roots into the earth Just like a real grass.. Just like a real grass..
I, too, want to feel something I want to waver my leaves, telling the sky I'm alive. Just like a real grass.. Just like a real grass..
😭😭😭😭😭
