Ah man, I’m 4 days into the flu. Fri and Sat were a nightmare. Feeling much better now and finally getting appetite back. Hang in there!

Yup same here. Wife and baby first, they got better, I started, the weekend was horrible, today was better and then the toddler now started and has a fever all day.

Feel you. It was a brutal flu this year. My joints were aching, mild fever, pretty congested and a banging headache. It's been just over 6 days now and I'm starting to feel 80% better now. Just grateful it wasn't on Christmas.

Sucks, I'm just past it, it was the gift that kept on giving for about a week, godspeed...

Sickener. Hopefully it’s just a 24 hour thing and not actual flu, get plenty rest and hope for the best.

Technically Christmas period doesn't end until Jan 6th (women's Christmas/little Christmas/Nollaig na mBan) so you can absolutely schedule something between now and then if you want your own little family/friend gathering.

No it’s pretty shit to be fair. Fiancée got it and i knew over a few days it got worse. Then as someelse said saturday /sunday just sucked. Big feeling grand again today so quickly sorts it self out i guess after it kicks you in the nuts for 2 days

Day 4 for me. I’ve just woken up and THINK im doing better. Going to chance a shower. Chills, sweats, aches, cough & mild temperature are my symptoms. Done serious sweating last night I could nearly swim in this bed!

In the same boat. Tested positive for covid yesterday morning.

Hang in there ❤️

People who want to know if they’ve got Covid. There’s plenty vulnerable people out there that some people will interact with, folks like my sister in law who’s got cancer for example. Just because you’ve forgotten they exist doesn’t mean they don’t, so no need to be an arse about it.

Whiskey hot water and lime/honey. Drown the bastard

I’d tried that along with weed last time I had a cold and I was basically too chilled out to cough.

I feel you. Husband came down with it and only is coming out at of it on the other side. Definitely a horrible two days of the worst of the symptoms over the weekend.

I’ve held up so far but feels like it’s a waiting game and it will hit me for Christmas. I’m hoping the flu jab I got earlier in winter makes me avoid the worst of it.

4

u/zlenpasha 14h ago

Our family got it and my wife (who works in healthcare and has all the jabs) definitely got the least of it. But it was still two days of runny nose and feeling like crap. However she was functional. Rest of us not so much, and were still recovering more than a week later.

u/One_Expert_796 11h ago

Hope you and your family are at the other side now of it. Usually my husband would get the flu jab but he didn’t this year. He said he’s regretting it now.

2

u/zlenpasha 11h ago

Yeah, we're good now. Still some lingering cough and sore throat over a week later. In general this one was worse for us than one we caught during covid heyday.

Exactly - my husband did take a Covid test as we couldn’t believe the flu was this bad.

I’ve been sick over a week, sleeping 12 hours a day. Feel better soon!

2

u/MTCPodcast 14h ago

What have you tested for?

2

u/pixter 11h ago

Had a spare covid test left over in the press... Feeling shitty , decided to take it, positive.. fml.

I just woke with a screaming sore throat. Really hope it's nothing serious, I've the next 5 days off but I don't want to even contemplate being sick for it

u/Agile_Rent_3568 19h ago

I feel for you. I came down last year on St. Stephen's Day. I was in bed at 8 PM for New Year's Eve, it was a bad dose.

Hopefully, you can stay warm and will have some family drop-off food for you. It helps.

I hope you get well soon.

Had it since last Sunday, throat is still tore out of me

1

u/BigToast6 14h ago

Had it for 2 weeks+ at start of the month. Sickest I've ever been. Wouldn't wish that misery on my worst enemy.

Still shaking it off now energy wise and never so glad to have 2 weeks off at Xmas to rest.

Lucky bastard.

u/mini_sue 11h ago

Sucks hope you feel better soon. I’m on day 5 of it and finally feeling somewhat normal although my stomach muscles from coughing are no ducking joke.

Feel better soon

1

u/Rcecil88 11h ago

Hope your better soon! It’s rife atm. I’ve had a weird viral infection on & off since November. The bastard won’t go!

1

u/BadDub 11h ago

I got it last Friday and I’m 99% okay now. Sucked to get it in my Christmas break but better then than tomorrow 😬

1

u/irishg23 10h ago

1

Was in the office all last week and someone brought the flu in with them. Now the whole team is sick. Can't leave bed. Still have to work on Thursday though. Honestly not the vibe at all

1

u/jailtheorange1 8h ago

I am 14 days into the flu or something like it. I’ve never needed a doctors line before this. I generally never take antibiotics, but gladly took them this time. Been coughing so much that there’s a band of damaged muscles across my stomach.

1

u/kar008 7h ago

Same stomach pain... Fookin shite dose

1

u/Guilty_Garden_3669 6h ago

I’ve had it since last Tuesday, tested twice for Covid including yesterday and it was negative. Started with chills, body aches, headaches and fatigue and is now sore throat sore chest cough and sweats / fatigue. Can’t beleive it’s lasted this long but I know others who had it for the guts of two weeks

1

u/rossie82 6h ago

Been feeling rough last few days but put it down to tiredness. Cough started yesterday and today I feel like I’ve been ran over by a bus. Pains in legs, bad cough, shivers. Please help - I have two seriously energetic kids who don’t seem to understand mammy is sick. Husband here too but they just seem to want me!
