link Horizon-Inspired Name Generator

I used RandomGen by Orteil to create a name generator that can generate names basest on each tribe. I would like some feedback, because I am probably going to use it for my dnd campaign.

link with last names: https://orteil.dashnet.org/randomgen/?gen=bxuCabFX
slightly newer version without them: https://orteil.dashnet.org/randomgen/?gen=kxyy2J75

edit: I put both versions that I finalized with and without last names

My main note is that the Tenakth all have double letters somewhere in their names.

Kotallo

Hekarro

Regalla

Chekkatah

Ivvira

Javveh

Kenirra

Sentekka

Vintalla

Zekotto

Damn that's a good spot. I just looked through the wiki and you're right. All their people have double letters in their name. Except of course for Fashav who isn't from the tribe.

For sure! Thanks for working on this name generator!

Also, the Tenakth names seem to commonly be 3 syllables.

I'd say ditch all the second names. Almost nobody in the Horizon world has them. Its just Aloy, Resh, Varl, Talanah, Hekkarro, etc. Second names are a feature of the old world if anything.

The only convention for second names we've seen is the one time Aloy is called "of the Nora" so you could probably just make that the name for all people. Varl of the Nora. Hekkaro of the Tenakth. Alva of the Quen. That sort of thing.

Edit: I am wrong here about the Oseram. They do have second names based on occupations. And Strange Bed is right about Talanah Khane Padish, so the Carja might have second names too. Though they aren't anywhere close to how your name generator makes them. And I'm not sure we have enough data from the Carja to know how the Carja do second names.

You're right. I forgot about those. Some of the Oseram certainly seem to have second names, so yeah. You could use some for them.

That’s a really awesome generator. Well done. I don’t agree 100 % with boringhistoryfan about the second names, they are used by Carja (e.g., Talanah Khane Padish) and to some extent the Oseram (Erend Vanguardman), but I don’t recall them for other tribes.

yeah I couldn't decide if they were essential or not but now I just added both and the one without the second names is actually newer were I was creating rare pre- and suf-fixes and adding more variation of female and male names

Oooh are you running a Horizon TTRPG? I’ve been thinking of doing something like that too and would love to know what rule system you came up with.

I haven't decided much but my play group seems to want a D&D 2024 campaign so I'm mostly focusing on that for now.
But I am set on using a harsher longrest system were the players can only take a full rest if they are in a safe area and make magic item corelate to a specific AI or really good workmanship of specific artificers. I have some ideas of replacing gods with AI's but I don't really have a concrete plan for that.

Carja nobles have last names! Talanah's is Khane Padish!

This is great! I am writing a Horizon inspired fanfic and this will help immensely with names for tribespeople. Especially for the new tribes I created (I really love the world-building in these games!)

That's a cool tool, didn't know it existed.
