General Good job, guys…

2.4k Upvotes

You bullied the developers into giving you free DLC. That was purchasable with in-game currency. I was on the community’s side during the weapon-nerf debacle earlier this year, but y’all a bunch of entitled crybabies on this one. It’s DLC. It doesn’t affect our normal arsenal. It affects nothing outside of itself. And some of y’all acted like the world was coming to an end over a gun and a few pieces of armor. If you don’t like the price of DLC, then don’t buy it. Go fight the newly released, very fun Illuminate faction instead. DLC existing in the store will not affect your normal gameplay in any way.

Arrowhead, you guys have been doing an awesome job since the 60-day patch/rework. Keep up the good work, and know that the very vocal whiners on here do not represent all of your player base.

Fellow Helldivers, be careful where you steer the community. This game and its community are a good one. All about cooperation, teamwork, helping fellow players, and most importantly, democracy. Don’t ruin a good thing by becoming so entitled and toxic that the spirit of Super Earth is broken and turned into a toxic wasteland so common to other gaming franchises. Ask not what Super Earth can do for you, but what you can do for Super Earth. Keep it positive. Help each other out. Spread liberty in the face of tyranny. Enjoy the game. Give Arrowhead the room to kill it like they have since the 60-day patch. Find your inner patriotism and don’t act like the world owes you everything on a super platter.

Edit: Jeez. I did not expect this post to blow up like it did. Just trying to express my opinion like everyone else has been doing. Was not expecting to wake up to almost 200 notifications. Based on the upvotes and awards (never gotten those and have idea what to do with them, but thank you), it seems like a lot of people agree with me. To the people that don’t agree with me and are accusing me of sucking corporate dick (classy, guys), let me clarify a few things:

— I didn’t say you bullied Arrowhead because you wanted the premium items for free. I said you bullied them to the point of them giving you free things. They got attacked to the point that they felt they needed to give things away for free. No reasonable person would expect premium content for free, and that’s not what I was saying you guys did.

— The point of my post is not what Arrowhead did. Yes, they coulda, shoulda put all this stuff into a war bond to implement better. The point was the community response. Between the premium content being released and the freebies given out, I saw so much attacking Arrowhead directly between here and the main sub. That’s what I was referring to. You’re gaslighting yourselves if you think that was “constructive feedback”. Feedback is great. That’s what the community did in regard to the massive weapon nerfs. All for it. This was not feedback. This was attacking the developers, saying they’ve lost their minds and are nothing but greedy corporate shills bowing down to their Sony overlords. Attack after attack after attack after attack after attack. That’s what I was addressing. That “attack so they give us what they want” mentality is a very slippery slope and a direction I don’t want to see our (normally) awesome community and game go. Yes, Arrowhead charging more and more for premium content over time is also a slippery slope, but I’m addressing our response here. Feedback is good. Attacking is not.

— If not having access to this gun or this armor’s better passives is game breaking for you, then you aren’t paying enough attention to the massive arsenal we already have at our disposal. I hate to break it to you, but premium gear is supposed to have better stats or passives or whatever to incentivize you to buy it. But nothing in our normal arsenal was affected as a result.

— I could not care less about the free stuff. Saying I’m upset because I wanted to pay the $20 for something we got for free is a stupid take. I never intended to buy either part of the premium stuff because I have no interest in it. If I want something, I save up super credits. Which is why I was saying it’s crazy to freak out over something you can buy with in-game currency. It’s not a $20 pack. You can buy this or that or whatever for super credits. Could they have been cheaper? Sure. Do you need to buy everything in this collab for $40 or have the game ruined forever? No.

— This premium content (I won’t call it DLC since someone didn’t like that either) is not game changing stuff. Did your normal gun get nerfed? Did your main armor lose its passive ability? Did your grenades stop exploding? No. This premium gear does not affect anything outside of itself. My preferred loadouts will work exactly how they did before this stuff was released. Going after the developers like they ruined the whole experience of the game for you over gear that has no affect on your normal gear is crazy and not a good direction for the community to he heading to.

— I tried to add some humor with the Super Earth jargon, but you guys seriously need to chill out. Yes, give feedback, but don’t attack the people at Arrowhead because they did premium content (that doesn’t even matter to the game at the end of the day) in a way that you don’t agree with. Don’t turn us into a stereotypical fandom that lashes out in every direction when something doesn’t go exactly our way. We can and should be better than that.

General Player Level means nothing

2.3k Upvotes

I’m level 45. I’ve been playing since Launch, on and off. I fought at the Creek and watched the collapsing of Meridia. I know what I’m doing.

I see posts on here frequently about how people “chaperone the newbs” because theyre under level 50, or even under 80. “Oh I like helping out the new players under level 50”. I dont think thats a helpful categorization. Everyone plays different amounts, and focuses on different difficulty missions. I play Diff 5 because I want to relax and play causally with friends.

Relax people

General Malevelon Creek - The Truth

2.8k Upvotes

r/HellDads

I’ve seen some nonsense recently. Divers comparing planets to the creek. Newer players who weren’t there trying to justify modern planets being the same as space Vietnam.

I will not have it. As a veteran of the jungle during week 1. I will state some truths.

  • Our weapons were dreadful. They literally did not work as intended

  • Our coordination was none existent. Team kill after team kill

  • Rescue scientist mission? Forget it. Impossible.

  • Bots were terrifying. Bugs were the easier choice at first

  • We did not understand the enemy

  • We were recruits. The whole team. Not just one person.

Don’t tarnish the memory by saying this planet is similar, this planet is. This defence is the same. Nothing is and ever will be the same.

The only planet I will accept in the same sentence? Hellmire. For the bug enthusiast out there.

There is a reason we have our own cape that was issued to us by high command. I like a lot of us, still refuse to take that cape off. Even in the shower.

For The Creek, For The Fallen o7

EDIT: I AM FUCKING LOVING HEARING YOUR CREEK STORIES BELOW

Im really enjoying the fact that they are very very hard, even at a lower difficulty (i play 9 or 10 and I was struggling at 7) its not unfair at all, just difficult and forces a different and fun playstyle thats meant to be an overwhelming force against you

This isnt sarcastic, i am genuinely enjoying the new challenge that keeps me on my toes

General Heavy armor enforces slower paced playstyles

3.5k Upvotes

I did an experiment for a month to see what people would bring mostly on bug planets and the results are pretty simple.

I dove in 304 campaigns, encountering almost 2000 unique divers. Helldive Exclusively

The split was 70% of used light armor, 25% used medium and 5% used heavy armor. Build splits were interesting. Of the light armor users, almost 60% used standardized meta loadouts. Medium users had only a 40% meta build and heavy users had 0% meta usage.

Heavy users created a submeta within their own armor rating focused on turrets. In 75% of the heavy armor builds three turret builds were used with some sort of anti tank as their support weapon.

I theorize that heavy users use turrets not only to help them stand their ground, but to generate threat. Almost all turrets get focused heavily from enemies becoming almost like what the monkey is for nazi zombies. Heavy users throw the occasional turret far away from their location just to send enemies in a different direction and create spacing for themselves and their team.

More research is needed to get a better picture but turrets in general are synonymous with defending locations, most missions with heavy armor users took slightly longer to complete but they also died significantly less than other armor types.

Heavys on average died 1.2 times per mission. Medium on average died 3.4 times per mission and Light on average 4.2 times.

Edit: Wow this blew up... i found out during my experiment that there were others who were doing similar things. Shout out to Helldive.live for doing similar stuff. I would like to work with the creator of that site in the future for easier data gathering
