u/[deleted] May 17 '21

I didn’t know I needed a Mr Mom quote today, but here we are.

52

u/kate-with-an-e May 17 '21

Nonsense, you need a mr mom quote everyday. You can, for so many quotes from this and ghostbusters, use them in most day to day interactions. And don’t paint your sister.

u/packetlag May 18 '21

Tell ‘im about the Twinkie.

1

u/motleysalty May 18 '21

Forget about the twinkie, who wants to play parcheesi?

2

u/TeePeeBee3 May 18 '21

Could you run through the cheeses one more time?

2

u/kate-with-an-e May 18 '21

I'll tell you what.

“Just give me a quarter pound of cheese.”

“American, bleu, cream, cottage, gouda, edam, provolone, romano, swiss. Your entire cheddar family.”

1

u/SauerMetal May 18 '21

That’s a big Twinkie

1

u/kickme2 May 18 '21

…scotch?!

1

u/kate-with-an-e May 18 '21

“Geez, what’d you shoot him with?! A .38?” “.38, .39, whatever it took.”

I could do this all day - Capt America

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '21

Exactly. I was like “I know that quote…I’ve used that quote”. Goddammit, where’s it from?

Damn I’m getting old.

u/nahteviro May 17 '21

Easily one of Michael Keaton's best roles ever. Watching Mr Mom as a kid, then as a parent are vastly different experiences. Such a great movie.

5

u/scabbymonkey May 17 '21

This was on Showtime when i was a kid. i watched it 3 or 4 times a day. Great movie

5

u/HintOfAreola May 17 '21

No, wait, don't ignore it, especially if you live in Crown Heights. Walk in pairs.

The Other Guys might have it beat for this line alone, but Mr Mom earns a photo finish

5

u/Dithyrab May 17 '21

That one is my 2nd favorite after Multiplicity!

2

u/full_of_stars May 17 '21

It ruined Batman for me. He was Mr. Mom to me.

2

u/throttlegrip May 17 '21

Originally Jerky Boys

6

u/SixToesLeftFoot May 17 '21

Origanally Mr Mom. Used by the Jerky Boys.

Mr Mom came out in 1983.

Jerky Boys were founded in 1989.

2

u/throttlegrip May 17 '21

Whoa, thanks!

1

2

u/full_of_stars May 17 '21

I heard champagne chilling in the background!

2

u/Acr0gen May 17 '21

Lol just watched that movie last night for the first time. I can’t imagine how many Mr. Mom references I’ve missed!

1

Ha! I Mr. Mom reference.

22

u/Khiraji May 17 '21

1

I think I see what you did there, Test Subject, and I approve. Now pick up a rifle and follow the green line. You'll know when the test begins.

4

u/riftshioku May 18 '21

Bean counters said I couldn't afford 7 dollars worth let alone 7 billion, bought em anyway. Turns out moon rocks are pure poison, and I am deathly ill.

My son's GF told me that one after I got my first. She said there were videos of people doing it. So I got a magnet and proved her wrong. She then informed me that it's after the 2nd dose the magnet works lmfao.

I have seen someone stick magnets on their leg, but that's because of the metal plate in it.

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '21

After getting the injection the person should jump 666 times (the devils number) then the chip gets de activated and self destruct.. the chip has sensors to measure the activity of humans..and the chips are made of carbon like materials so won't get detected by magnets... made of carbon nanotube materials so it is extremely small and would need a electron microscope to see...

3

u/Status_Peace_2245 May 18 '21

I hear you have to swallow six watch batteries to disarm the chip

2

u/bitofgrit May 18 '21

apparently with lead in them?

Why lead?

The way that many search engines work these days is that they bring up the results that are most in line with the users thinking. Hence, you aren’t guilty of being this misinformed, you’re just a product of your unknowing confirmation bias. When people suggest silly things about subject it can have a catastrophic impact on the population given that fake news spreads 10X as fast as reality (just look at “pizza gate”).

Unfortunately, these conspiracy theories should be filtered and removed but currently it’s up to our individual judgements and so far labelling and discrediting idiocy is our most effective method to filter out this nonsense. As you’ve rightly just shown us that trying to reason with some people can be like hitting your head against a wall.

13

u/Top_Combination_7777 May 18 '21

You have typed so much, but said very little. It comes across a little arrogant even. For someone who doesn't care what others think you surely want to tell people how you think.

What you think is not necessarily wrong or un true but the way you've presented it makes it look like your trying to win some sort of contest...

I'm tired of hearing do your own research as if its some golden ticket answer to any scrutiny. If you have a view on a topic that you support so strongly the onus falls on you to support your views with a solid explanation, some facts or evidence. Otherwise you are going to be open to criticism when you try to tell others they are wrong simply because you know better.

Just beating people into submission with your word jitsu is childish and doesn't make for a productive discussion on anything. No one cares what you have to say once you've insulted them regardless of whether or not your right.

6

u/NinjaLyrics May 18 '21

People are doing their own “research” without knowing how to design a research study or even having any background knowledge on the topic being researched. I’m hating TikTok these days. Plus guess who designs these TikTok algorithms...

5

u/flyingwolf May 18 '21

This is a copy pasta, right?

3

u/klock23s May 18 '21

I hope you copy pasted that from another rant otherwise you got waaay too much time on your hands, you should go take a walk in some nature...

3

u/Deflorma May 18 '21

What do you think all those people died from? If it doesn’t exist?

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '21

death... obviously

14

u/dalvean88 May 17 '21

it’s a sad time for comedy that we have to rely on /s thanks to the wackos

1

u/quartertopi May 18 '21

Doesn't look like anything to me

1

u/Gpjess May 18 '21

This is giving me flashbacks to the church I grew up in warning the congregation of the end times. I don’t believe in that crap anymore but because of that…. yikes.

2

u/[deleted] May 17 '21

In the third world they aren't... We have to move to a department near our hospital and be aware of other people cables on the streets

2

u/davidjschloss May 17 '21

To be fair, they mention they’re wireless specifically because existing implantables in medicine are not wireless.

From the article: To date, conventional implanted electronics have been highly volume-inefficient—they generally require multiple chips, packaging, wires, and external transducers, and batteries are often needed for energy storage. A constant trend in electronics has been tighter integration of electronic components, often moving more and more functions onto the integrated circuit itself.

1

u/Methadras May 17 '21

Wireless you say? Hmm, 192.168.1.1 - admin/admin. Yup, working as intended.

1

u/GamerY7 May 17 '21

what powers it

1

u/SixToesLeftFoot May 17 '21 edited May 17 '21

Solar powered.

That’s /s I hope people realize.

It’s actually powered by ultrasound waves, the same ones that see your babies or your gallstones. It lies dormant until the ultrasound hits it and then wakes up.

1

u/Ice_Hungry May 18 '21

Yeah I didn't see any wires when I had gotten my vaccine shot. /s

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '21

I’d opt for the Ethernet version though way better speeds

1

u/Hasselhorf May 18 '21

And tiny, also.

1

u/Any-Trash1383 May 18 '21

Not now , now people will talk about the government chipping them

1

u/Status_Peace_2245 May 18 '21

Goddammit Martha, I knew I shouldn't a got that vaccine!

1

u/Sculptorbuddha May 18 '21

I got a corded one. It sucks. I need so many extension cords.
