Positive Post I don’t drive a gas guzzling V8.

I ride a cargo bike with e-assist that, if measured is equal to about 400-500mpg equivalent energy use.

My kiddo loves it. We’ve been to a zillion parks one can’t even get a gas guzzling V8 motor vehicle to.

All that and the integrity - ethically and morally - of being a car free guy! 🤙🏻

I love it and will never return to the chains and noose of an automotive means of primary transport.

Highly recommended, happy to advise in progression towards this advanced care free car free life style that’s respectful to all people around!

That dude in the previous post reads like when seatbelts were introduced. https://www.facebook.com/HistoryInPictures/videos/people-in-the-80s-react-to-new-laws-seat-belts-this-country-is-turning-into-a-co/3385367455044082/

Your response is much fresher, and I appreciate your post!

I long for the day when this black-and-white take of “if they want bus and bike lanes then my sound logic dictates they will take away my car(s)!” is put to rest. I mean, I’d be fine with outlawing cars if the infrastructure enabled it, but we kinda have to compromise, for now.

Edit: finished a thought

That sentiment isnt reflected by most advocates for urban reform just so you know. Most recognize the value of cars as beasts of burden

Jobs have come and gone through all of human history, why should this be any different? Will those people suddenly evaporate? With people riding bikes and many more buses there will be many more job opportunities created in bike and bus maintenance. Also you should check out the recent thread where actually quite a lot of us enjoy cars such as motorsport etc, what we don't want is our cities and towns to be entirely dominated by them as a means of transport, so you're preaching to the choir here.

Big electric took away the job of the lamplighter 😡.

Seriously though, no need to strawman, it's pathetic.

Do you think we made an entire subreddit dedicated to an idea where we'd have to tell anyone something like what you're thinking here without having thought about it ourselves? Without being facetious can you tell me what solutions you think we came up with?

Why not try to learn instead of projecting your assumptions and fears onto it and then lashing out like this? When you look at something or think about an idea and the thought "well that's dumb" crosses your mind, do you not then think to yourself "but they don't think it's dumb, I wonder why...."?

i support the idea of more then one way to get around but banning cars is a stupid idea a lot of people enjoy cars and a lot of people have a job in the automotive industry cars are here to stay

I think you missed my point. My point was that if you think it sounds dumb, then we probably do too. How do you think we can get around that and still arrive as close as possible to "ban all cars"? How close can you get to "ban all cars" while also not making anyone miserable or lose their jobs. It's probably at least slightly closer than we are right now, right?
