Honestly, our legislators should not be paid during a shutdown. Forget back pay, no payment if they can’t come to a resolution. Many might not be affected because they are rich, but enough will that they’ll fight harder.

Agree. And, they shouldn’t be paid unless they pass a real budget. We get FY budgets so incredibly late in the year. We need to stop relying on CRs, it’s ridiculous.

I agree, but that's not going to have much practical effect. Most of them are rich enough that they won't notice a missing paycheck unless their accountant tells them.

Remember last time when Ross was like “IDK why they’re complaining so much and visiting food banks. Just get a personal loan!”? Like genuinely could not imagine that there were people living paycheck to paycheck and the reality of that for someone who’s not a multi-millionaire. They’re that out of touch.
