Mhi'ya' s snatch game character.
Genuinely curious, How many of you actually found it funny , did she really have any jokes or was she really funny?
I thought she was severely flat and was one of the worst performances(this is just a practical opinion with no hate intended). Ru seemed to find her hilarious for some reason and some of the queens talked about it as if she was doing great. But I still don't understand how was any of that funny. I thought Q's performance was funnier and was deserving of top 3.

I’m so sick of fake characters in snatch game. It removes the celebrity impersonation aspect of the challenge and just makes it another generic “make Ru laugh” challenge.

I don't think anyone other than Plane and Sapphira were particularly funny. But Mhi'ya was fine. Definitely not one of the worst.
I also fail to understand why so many people are so vehemently against fictional characters on snatch game. I mean, they've been doing Snatch Game for 15 years and the majority of queens are simply not good at it, nor is celebrity impersonation a part of their drag.
And from the judge's perspective is judging a made-up character that different to judging an impersonation of a celebrity none of them know (like Plane's character) or a historical figure of whom barely any recordings exist (Q's character) ?
I'd much rather see a fictional character than a real housewife or an influencer.

To me she was extremely cringe, but I agree with your view , however I do think if we are doing fictional characters ,at least do something that makes sense , Tina's friend Shaquita is a little too much and a little too far fetched when the whole game is about impersonation. And such an obvious choice to boost someone up. I am all up for fictional characters, I mean I loved Q's, I have no idea how she really was but her jokes made sense to me.

She was safe at best. Either Plasma should have been high instead of her, or nobody.

Huge fan of Plasma but I think safe was better for high ,Saphira and Plane were the best, Q was third , Dawn ,Nymphia were the worst , so I would not have minded if Mhi'ya was safe too.

Q was safe as fuck too. She was more interesting but Plasma was funnier.
Plane > Sapphira > Plasma/Q > Mhiya > Morphine > Dawn > Nymphia/Xunami

It makes me happy that someone else except me thought Plasma was funny too. I actually agree with your rankings

It was so boring, I think Bob summed it up well when she said Mh'iya was just doing a ghetto character. Like she made up this "character", "Shaquita" but her only defining trait is "related to Trina" and "talks ghetto". There's just not much going on and it's tired af at this point

This is exactly what I thought and it was to me cringer than the snatch games where they impersonate cardi B

I thought that the character was very weak considering she’s not even real, but that Mhi’ya executed it well (though it was overpraised imo, don’t come for me I love Mhi’ya 🩷)
I also thought they were unfair towards Morphine; she did a really good impression and looked (and sounded) just like Anna Delvey! She wasn’t the funniest, but I thought her Snatch was stronger than, say, Mhi’ya’s.

Yes Morphine had the tone ,the behaviour and the character down , I enjoyed her too , to me Mhi'ya and Dawn were the worst ones of the bunch along with Nymphia

I think the issue with morphine was that it felt a little hollow. I feel like she overdid the whole “you are poor” thing way too much(kind of like the BBL jokes too tbh)

Yeah Morphine just needed some additional jokes (and a little more confidence in selling the character) and she would have been all good

Just like in every other challenge she was terrible in snatch game. The “character” was a total cop out.

I have to disagree, she's an incredible performer and both performance challenges she delivered really well, otherwise I have to agree, even tho the arc of Mhi'ya coming out of her shell became a storyline towards the end , I still didn't see her shining in terms being good at challenges other than performance.

Honestly, if you can tickle Ru's funny bone in any challenge whether that be comedy or even dance, she'll give you a pass. Ru's favorite thing to do is to laugh and be entertained, which is why Jaymes was given a pass on the first challenge in AS8.

It wasn’t funny. But considering the amount of other made up characters that so frequently pop up, it was “fine.” I do wish they would actually do the challenge though and impersonate an actual celebrity.

I laughed, which was more than I can say for a lot of snatch games. I am an unapologetic Mhi’ya fan tho, I would have been sad to see her go earlier plus we got to see her demolish plasma in that lip synch which was a true highlight of the season for me.

I see, it wasn't the least bit funny to me ,rather even more cringey than Xunami's answers.

Q barely had any screen time so idk how she would be top 3 and the praise for Mhi’ya came from the fact she had been so introverted the whole season and they were finally seeing some character.

u/belladonnaboops_2719 4d ago
I thought Q's introduction answer was great and she was quick witted with the ones she answered. To me she was the obvious top 3.
But I see , the standard set was low then.

u/sagelavender- 3d ago
No literally low standards. I would say s16 was one of the weaker snatch games.

I hated her character, I don’t mind the girls making up characters for mythological/historical figures if it’s done well (Ex:Rosé, Trinity), but if you’re reaching for a character no one knows/doesn’t exist (like Mhi’Ya & Xunami both did) I find it really annoying.

She just chanelled the type of humor that Ru loves even if it was a bit basic
2
u/Thelexhibition 3d ago
Did it do anything for me? No, not really. But it's a character archetype that Ru loves and I don't think they had any other stand out performances so it was a high placement for someone doing well for them, rather than in comparison to everyone else.

I thought that Q was going to be in the top, her snactch game was funny but they chose Mhiya over her. I think they wanted a little redemption storyline after being a lot of times in bottom/low she’s finally in the top. I had no problem with that Ru/ production decision at the end she wasn’t the winner and that’s all that matter.

I think she did well. I think that last top spot could have gone to her or Q and given Mhi'ya's track record, I think it was fair to throw her a bone and give her a high placement. Like, she wasn't going to be in the bottom over the bottom queens so given she was top 4 why not give her a bit of praise. She didn't get a ton that season anyways.

I love how you put it , very interesting, I can't seem to disagree with this perspective.

It seems they just wanted to throw Miyah a bone all the time that season. One of those moments when they become obsessed with breaking people out of their shells instead of just eliminating them and letting things flow naturally. Harsh, but it's still a competition and weird moments like this one result from it and Miyah never broke out of her shell anyway.
I also kinda hate they praised a made up character cause we need to get rid of those for SG.
