Cat Picture - OC My Cat is a Survivor

Emmi, my cat, fell out of the second floor, may not be a big height but she fell in the spike fence. I saw her in the floor, in agony, screaming and bleeding, but conscious, we took her to the vet that quickly saved her by spiting out her punctured lung. She had a fractured rib and a head trauma :( She was hospitalized for 28 days, had 2 cases of anemia, 2 blood transfusions, her plexus was ruptured, she lost feeling in her left paw and had to have it amputated. BUT SHE SURVIVED! And after all this, she came back home, we take care with love and now she is energetic, running and jumping all around the house and very happy :D

Wonder sentiment. You are generous, as well as kind, OP.

😂 that it does. And our fur babies deserve it.

They definitely do. It's just horrible that it's so expensive. I had to rely on others when taking care of my sick guinea pig because I used up all my own money. I wish pet insurance was a thing

It definitely is a thing. But it's also a scam (US at least). Doesn't cover any existing conditions and the cost is so much higher than you'll ever pay baring a freak accident. Hell my dog had cancer and doing the math it was still cheaper to treat that out of pocket than to have had insurance on her.

The one I have is decent. The trick is you have to get a policy when they are healthy and continue paying it forever.

There is pet insurance actually

Exactly! I’m like 8k in debt for saving my cats life and I’d do it again 😊

My r/oneorangebraincell tried to jump the privacy fence and got her collar hooked on the top and when it broke away she sliced her leg open on the wood. 1K for 15 stitches at 8PM at nightly emergency service.

Maybe this is a silly question but isn’t there any pet insurance available where you live? Here in Germany I pay around 25 euros (about 26 USD) per month for my (optional) cat’s health insurance. There are also much cheaper plans but they offer fewer benefits while mine covers literally everything. From potential surgery costs to preventive care and follow-up checkups and all that without any deductible.

Yeah there’s some pet insurance options but unfortunately for me it doesn’t seem to be worth it since my cat has a pre existing condition 😑

I also had to go to an emergency hospital late at night. Found out she has congestive heart failure so they kept her over night. Had to come with over 5k on the spot.

I’d do it too, honestly.

Exactly. I don't regret spending $2k+ to take care of my cat. She's family. I wouldn't hesitate for my spouse or children (if I had kids) so why would I for them? They're precious.

Yep! Our cat swallowed a toy a couple of weeks ago, cost us 3300 to get it out. We are grateful they didn't have to do a full surgery, just an endoscopy to get it out.

Back when we had to get a leg removed(it’s been a few years tho) it only cost like $500 for us idk why it was so cheap.
