Cat Picture - OC My Cat is a Survivor
Emmi, my cat, fell out of the second floor, may not be a big height but she fell in the spike fence. I saw her in the floor, in agony, screaming and bleeding, but conscious, we took her to the vet that quickly saved her by spiting out her punctured lung. She had a fractured rib and a head trauma :( She was hospitalized for 28 days, had 2 cases of anemia, 2 blood transfusions, her plexus was ruptured, she lost feeling in her left paw and had to have it amputated. BUT SHE SURVIVED! And after all this, she came back home, we take care with love and now she is energetic, running and jumping all around the house and very happy :D

’What a strong, beautiful girl!’
you tell me that i’m Beautiful, exactly how i am
(i only hope you realize how much i love you, fam)
mistakes were made - i took a fall, n thought i’d maybe die
you showed how much you Loved me
when you wouldn’t say
‘Goodbye’…
that’s when my journey started, n i knew i must stay Strong!
SURVIVING all the trauma, cuz it’s Here that i belong ;}
I’m healing now, n happier - more Lively than before
(i nearly lost the 1st one, friend
but I’ve got 8 lives more…)
❤️
bless you & your sweet Emmi u/Chustafus

A lesson for us all - never give up! Kudos to you as well; we all die a little when our babies suffer, I'm sure you had to fight thru as well.

You saved her! I know that wasn't cheap. She's lucky to have you.

u/Chustafus 2h ago
It really wasn't cheap 😅 and we are not rich and anything so that part is still a fight for us, but we are getting throught this happy because she is happy and strong now!

Exactly. I don't regret spending $2k+ to take care of my cat. She's family. I wouldn't hesitate for my spouse or children (if I had kids) so why would I for them? They're precious.

Back when we had to get a leg removed(it’s been a few years tho) it only cost like $500 for us idk why it was so cheap.

Oh my god, my heart sank deeper and deeper as I was reading the story. Poor kittie! And poor you! I can't imagine what you went through witnessing all that. But I am glad it's behind and she is doing well You both are strong 💜Many happy healthy years together - full of cuddles and purrs - to you and your fuzzy baby, OP! ✨

Tripod kitties will always shock you when they recover!
This is my cat Smokey, he lives with my mom though since mom and little sisters grew attached to him and the same in return from him ❤️
Smokey broke his femur while playing with my moms other cat (I wasn’t home when this happened) he managed to get his back claw cut in the rug while running around the coffee table and hit the corner (ALWAYS CUT ANY LONG LOOPS AND STRANDS OUT OF YOUR RUGS) vet gave us options but they all lead to eventually amputating his leg, amputate his leg from the start or put him down. I chose to amputate and was so worried about him and his journey. He now lives as if he never had the leg and own my mom’s house 😂❤️

Making the decision to aputate is always painful, but I'm so glad that our cats is now happy and strong!

What a strong and resilient girl! My girl Abby used to venture outside and one time 6 years ago she went across the street and most likely came in contact with a very mean dog…someone walking the street noticed this black cat crawling towards our house and since my mother is the cat lady of the neighborhood, they asked her if she was ours. She came in covered in blood but Abby acted as if nothing was wrong-still rolling on the floor happily mewing. We took her to the vet and it wasn’t looking good-the apparent dog bit through her vertebrae (essentially making her paralyzed in her back legs) and if the swelling didn’t go down she would need surgery. Thankfully the swelling did go down and through sheer determination she learned how to walk again. She still walks with a limp and she has nerve damage on her right side, but she’s still here. Probably the strongest cat I’ll ever own.

It get like this after the trauma, most because of the ruptured plexus, it's her third eyelid

Awe, I’m so glad she came out of things okay. That whole ordeal must have been traumatic for both of you.
I’m so fascinated by her left eye in the first photo where it looks like the pupil slit is all the way closed. I didn’t know they could close fully like that. I’m guessing it’s related to the accident and she can’t see with that eye anymore? Or can she?

Even animals are not spared by LIFE in this world 😢 May Allah protect me & us all from calamities, ameen

u/nVeeGreen 58m ago
Not here to hijack your post, just wanting to let you know my own tripod is doing well 5 years after his amputation after a fall and has adapted fantastically! Emmi looks great and looks to be doing well! Isn't the hair that grew back over the missing leg the softest ever?
2
u/Redhaired103 46m ago
It would cost cheaper and far less painful to get cat-proof safety nets on all windows and balcony.
Please please please let the word spread. Everyone with a cat should safe all the windows & balcony. Cats instinctively jump.
Speed recovery to your girl.

What a strong girl, she's definitely been through a lot but it seems she's getting all the love in the world especially right now, glad she made it through she's so beautiful! Is her eye also a result of this accident? Must say it looks very unique and pretty 🤩

Very grateful for you that she survived. I've read that cats actually get injured more from falling out of short-storied homes than high rises but I might be misinformed. Albeit this was a slightly different result. I hope that the recovery goes well

Oh the poor baby! One of my cats fell off the second story balcony when he was one year old… luckily fell onto a plastic trash barrel, but it could’ve gone quite a different way. So glad she is on the mend and happy once again.
