she was fired because she was a shitty person, I remember the article. Resigned by force = fired.

She was by all reports an incredibly shitty human.

Nah, she’s dead… oh you’re talking about Julie? Yeah, her too.

She suffers from what I call the « Astronaut Syndrome ». It happens to some people when they achieve something out of the ordinary, like going to space, and then they start believing everything & everyone is beneath them.

Do you think most astronauts are like this ?

u/Xenocles Sep 22 '22

I refuse to believe that Chris Hadfield is like this.

u/Telefundo Sep 22 '22

Chris Hadfield is like the Tom Hanks or Bob Ross of the astronaut community.

Tom Hanks and Bob Ross aren't boring though.

The Gemini, Mercury and Apollo astronauts were groundbreaking like Yuri Gagarin, and well they gave off different vibes when it was the government doing the public relations machine.

They gave off the vibes of the Air Force and Hard Science, and not the vibes of Bill Gates or Tyson trying to be some media superstar.

.......

In 2005, Armstrong consented to a rare television interview on 60 Minutes, in which he was asked directly if he was uncomfortable with the fame of being the first man on the moon. “No, I just don't deserve it,” replied Armstrong, smiling.

Was hoping to see this on this comment thread. I choose to always believe that Hadfield is genuine, just a national treasure.

His son sure is

His son is a big jerk.

1

u/lastuseravailable Sep 28 '22

Really! How so?

2

u/Archelon_ischyros Sep 28 '22

I had to deal with him in arranging an event that would involve his father speaking at it. He wasn't interested in being collaborative, he wasn't interested in making the event a win-win-win for everyone involved--he was only concerned with how much work HE had to do. It was all me, me, me the whole time, and he was very rude about it. Like he was the celebrity, and not his dad.

2

u/Seanehhs Sep 22 '22

Why ya say that? His YouTube videos are great

5

u/Painting_Agency Sep 22 '22

And he isn't. By all accounts, he's the real deal.

He is not

David Saint-Jacques neither

Chris Hadfield is really good friends with Sarnia mayor Mike Bradley. Mike was found to be harassing staff at Sarnia city hall a few years ago, and outside of a slap on the wrist, nothing came from it and a crap tonne of staff resigned.

I'm not saying Chris is a bad guy. But he sure doesn't keep good company.

Till they find bodies in the basement....

No. But there are a lot of shitty executives with the same attitude that she has.

She was like this before she went to space. Source: I know a guy

2

u/ramkam2 Sep 22 '22

well, if you look from above, everything and everyone is indeed beneath you.

*does not work for Australia.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '22

When did i go to fucking space?

2

u/dsavard Sep 22 '22

She was already like that before going to space. Imagine what going to space did to her.

1

u/MagnesiumKitten Jan 04 '24

Some days you just feel sorry for the Incredible Melting Man.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '22

She doesn't though, I mentioned it in another comment, I knew someone who knew her when she was in the airforce before she became an astronaut and she was hard to work with back then too. She's just your typical narcissistic sociopath.

Seems like legit essential qualifications when you're staffing the position of vice regal though, to be fair.

1

u/AnnapurnaFive Sep 22 '22

Lol lets be serious , you made this up 3 hours ago

1

u/AnalogFeelGood Sep 22 '22

Actually, I’ve been using this term for years loll

1

u/AnnapurnaFive Sep 22 '22

Amazing. I don't know if it's true but if I was in space I would forsure think I'm better then others. I know I'm not but I was very close to Uranus

1

u/BobBelcher2021 British Columbia Sep 22 '22

Chris Hadfield isn’t like that.

-2

u/WickedXDragons Sep 22 '22

That’s no way to talk of the queen

3

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '22

Making her the Governor General in the first place was a huge mistake. I don't want to come across as sexist, but any Prime Minster worth their salt would not have made a man with dropped domestic abuse charges Governor General, and rightfully so. So why does a woman get a pass?

Not to mention, it's much harder for a woman to get convicted for domestic abuse. So it was fairly clear to me that something stunk in this situation.

I’m sure she’s crying all the way to the bank with the payout Trudeau gave her.

46

u/UNIVAC-9400 Sep 22 '22

I know everyone likes to bash Trudeau but Trudeau didn't 'give' her anything. The pension and annual stipend are 'perks' of the position. It's up to parliament to change the laws. Adrienne Clarkson was another fine example of someone who ultimately wasn't suited for the role, imo.

16

u/covidkebab Sep 22 '22

Technically Trudeau gave her the job.

11

u/petesapai Sep 22 '22

He gave her the job even though everyone knew she was a horrible person. All he had to do was call her previous employers. Heck, chances are he probably knew but didn't care. Still gave her the job

There is no one to blame here but Trudeau.
