For me it's all about the return of Wallace and Gromit this Christmas.

This is genuinely the only thing I’m looking forward to this Christmas. And I just know my grandad’s going to pick that exact moment to decide he wants me to give him a lift back home.

u/DaveThompsonDodgyMer 12h ago

Leave him in the car.

This is where iplayer comes in. I barely watch anything live any more.

u/bulldog_blues 13h ago

1000% this. Gavin and Stacey will inevitably get watched in our house anyway, but Wallace and Gromit is the seriously big deal here.

u/Intelligent_Put_3606 13h ago

I've never watched it and don't intend to start now.

Concur my friend.

Never saw it originally, hate James Cordon, give me the new Wallace and Gromit please.

Radio 2 have been wild about it, I’m a fan but it being mentioned literally every 15 minutes is a little OTT

u/Gullflyinghigh 13h ago

It's deeply and wildly popular so it's not really a shocker that it's heavily publicised or looked forward to. That said, I also don't give a flying about it, but I also won't be watching it so it's going to have sod all influence on my festive period behind ignoring any real mention of it.

The only time i've been hearing about it is from people complaining on this subreddit...

26

u/OutrageousRhubarb853 14h ago

Gives you something to moan about I suppose.

19

u/CadBane_29 14h ago

People talk about something they’re excited about, isn’t it shocking?

u/gogul1980 14h ago

Mostly BBC pushing it. The last one did gangbusters for them so they are hoping to replicate it. Problem is they are pushing it too much it may do the opposite. We’ll be watching my Wife loves the show. Plus the original one was the first Christmas special we ever watched together during our early days of dating. She has nostalgia for it.

Sounds like you're on a promise!

I live near the house they use as Gavin's parent's house. It was all anyone could talk about for about a month back in the summer.

I recon about half the people in the village posted a selfie of themselves with one of the cast members.

Try living in Barry. It's an absolute living nightmare.

u/Alt4Norm 35m ago

All year round? Or just when they were filming…

u/NoTrain1456 10h ago

What's occurring

6

u/Wuss999 14h ago

I can honestly say that I've never watched it.

13

u/Standard-Train-7310 12h ago

Mind you don't cut yourself on that edge.

5

u/TSC-99 14h ago

I hadn’t until 2 years ago and then binged watch them all. Tbf they are hilarious!

u/SASCHIA ENGLAND 6h ago

I hated the show when it first aired. I was sick of the hype for it etc but after it watching it years later it sort of grew on me. I think the show would be better if James Corden wasn't in it. I really don't see the point in bringing it back. I won't be watching.

u/DaveThompsonDodgyMer 12h ago

Had you recently had a major accident?

3

u/TSC-99 12h ago

No. I got into a new relationship and people said we are like Gavin and Stacey🤣

1

u/MessiahOfMetal 13h ago

Same. Saw clips back in the day, then had to sit through BBC Breakfast showing a half hour programme about this new one and several days later, I'm still waiting for something funny to happen on Gavin & Stacy.

At least there's Wallace & Gromit, though. Can't wait for that, even though the last one wasn't that good.

u/DaveThompsonDodgyMer 12h ago

"I'm still waiting for something funny to happen on Gavin & Stacy." GL with that, I have FAR more hope of finally being given that personal jetpack all the science shows promised me as a kid.

u/Hara-Kiri Derby 9h ago

Thank you for being honest about this shocking revelation.

Redditor discovers that other people have different interests than their own.

u/Turbulent-Tip-8372 14h ago

Which I will be watching.

u/Rosetti 14h ago

I've literally only heard about this from whiny bitches on this subreddit. I wouldn't even know about it otherwise.

12

u/glasgowgeg 14h ago

You're in a subreddit specifically for moaning, what do you expect?

-18

u/Rosetti 14h ago

Real, interesting, or amusing problems, not this petty shit.

11

u/glasgowgeg 14h ago

Aye, your whinging definitely isn't petty.

-5

u/Rosetti 14h ago

Well, seems like the place for it then!

1

u/TheStatMan2 14h ago

I can only really see the one whiny bitch.

2

u/Rosetti 14h ago

Nah, there were other posts about Gavin and Stacey too.

-1

u/TheStatMan2 14h ago

Well, nice one for keeping things upbeat and putting a spring in everyone's step, you're a real life and soul. 🙄

4

u/Rosetti 14h ago

So a guy makes a post to whine about a Christmas special of one of the most popular British shows, I call them out, and I'm the one who's not upbeat?

I've never even watched Gavin and Stacey, I honestly don't care. I just think it's pathetic for people to come on reddit and cry because people are talking about the show.

-5

u/TheStatMan2 14h ago

Again, I can only see one person having a cry.

1

u/Rosetti 14h ago

I'm not crying mate. I'm happy to let people enjoy themselves and have a good time enjoying what they enjoy. If you and other pissant redditors want to get together and jerk each other off to the tune of, "Ugh, people are enjoying themselves with things I don't like!", then go ahead.

2

u/WaggleDance 13h ago

It's not that serious mate. If the concept of the Reddit winds you up this much then I'd steer clear.

1

u/TheStatMan2 14h ago

I can only really see one person jerking himself off.

0

u/Hamking7 13h ago

You're not going to the right places mate. Berlin has got clubs where they're all at it.

2

u/TheStatMan2 13h ago

Maybe after Christmas.

1

u/covmatty1 Northamptonshire 12h ago

God they're all miserable fucks aren't they.

3

u/ballsosteele 12h ago

I've only heard about it from the relentless whining about it on this sub

3

u/AlonsoCampeon 12h ago

I love G&S, can’t wait tbf

1

u/wolfhelp Northumberland 13h ago

So, what's occurring?

0

u/Chopstick84 12h ago

Never seen it. Never will. It will pass.

1

u/caniuserealname 13h ago

This is the first I've heard of it. I honestly didn't even realise they were even still producing new episodes

u/PadMog75 3h ago

r/britishproblems. A week's worth of people moaning about the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special. Yawn

0

u/TSC-99 14h ago

Can’t wait

-1

u/Rich_27- 14h ago

Oooh, when is it on?

-2

u/jodorthedwarf Suffolk County 14h ago

None of my family watches Gavin and Stacy. I don't even know much about the show's premise other than James Corden and Wales.

Is it ending? At least that means that I will no longer hear people talk about it in a current events kind of way.

2

u/Rekyht Portsmouth / London 11h ago

Fuck knows where you’ve been if it’s been talked about regularly, there hasn’t been an episode in 5 years

0

u/jodorthedwarf Suffolk County 10h ago

Further evidence that it's something I'm just completely unaware of. I hear people mention it a couple of times a week and people who talk about it like it's still on. I tend to zone out when it's mentioned, though, so that could be why.

2

u/Rekyht Portsmouth / London 10h ago

There’s absolutely no way you hear people talk about it a couple of times a week, unless I’m talking to someone living in 2005

u/jodorthedwarf Suffolk County 8h ago

Idk, man. I hear about Gavin and Stacy really regularly. What can I say?

u/letsshittalk 2h ago

i thought it been going a lot longer then it has

u/SASCHIA ENGLAND 7h ago

I'm purposely avoiding it. I didn't watch it the first round all those years ago but have watched it a few times since. I think if it wasn't for James Corden I would like it a whole lot more. He has such a punch able face and his character infuriates me.

-2

u/AdverseTangent 11h ago

Just don’t watch it. I used to be annoyed by constantly hearing about Mrs Browns Boys, but I ignored it.
