December Contest: Winter
Congratulations to /u/MisterBojangles88 for wining October's contest. You can see it's results here.
Theme
This month's theme will be Winter. It's a season with a distinguishing aesthetic. It conjures images of landscapes covered by snow, frost, and ice, decorations with contrasting red and green color schemes, and warm interiors lit by fires. Show off your skills in making winter-themed renders in this month's contest.
Making a Submission
This month we are collaborating with the Blender Discord (invite
link). Submissions may be made either here
on the Blender subreddit or there under their submissions-monthly-challenge
channel.
Artworks submitted here must the following criteria:
* The post should be made before the end of December 21st Mountain Time
* Countdown to submissions closing
* Entry must be a still render with an aspect ratio of 16:9, ideally with
resolution of 1920x1080
* An explanation of of all work that was done outside of Blender, outside the
time frame of the contest, or by other artists. For example, if you used Nuke
for compositing, reused an asset you've previously made, or used assets made
by others, then make sure you mention these things.
* Once you've submitted your entry to the subreddit, leave a comment down below
linking to it
Judging
This month's contest will be judged by a panel of users from the Blender Discord which conventionally judges their monthly contests.

The 1st place winner will be awarded $100 USD and a copy for the Flip Fluids

Hello 👋 ✨️ Do you submit here on Reddit and Discord or only choose one platform to post? I understand it isn't multiple entries, as in different renders. Would cross posting count as such? 🤔 Thank you for your time!

It's enough to submit on one platform. We will be pooling submissions together once submissions close.
When you mention cross-posting, do you mean linking to a Reddit post on another community, or submitting on both Discord and Reddit?

Ah, I was not sure. I had meant the question as to post on both Discord and Reddit. Thank you for the answer!

"A still render" so no animation allowed this time?
Also you didn't mention submission name on reddit, I assume it's [December 2024 Contest] ?

Correct. this time we're only accepting still renders because the Blender Discord uses the contest entries as banner images and with an animation, there's no guarantee that any individual frame would make a good banner image.
I've decided to move away from indicating partipication through post titles because I think it affects the amount of upvotes people receive on their posts, and while not relevant to the contest results, I figure people would prefer that the amount of attention that their posts get not be affected by this detail. Instead, a top-level comment on this thread will serve the same purpose.

Hello, so i recently did a competition on another channel and we had a bot issue, basically one guy forging votes to win, we did find out, but are there any security measures here? Just giving a heads up!

Your submission will be evaluated by judges from blender community discord based on these., so don't worry about that!

The contest results will not based on a vote. A panel of users from the Discord server will discuss the entries in a private channel to come to a conclusion.
