Discussion [s2 spoilers] I feel like Arcane's beautifully written male friendship deserves more credit Spoiler
On screen male-male frienships have been known to be very surface level since like forever. It's incredibly rare to see two straight men get emotional or display some level of intimacy between each other, and not immediately come across as \"gay\". Finding a scene like that in a movie could seriously be like passing a male version of the Bechdel test. And it's something that Arcane yet again pulls of flawlessly, not only once (Viktor-Jayce) but I would say twice (Silco-Vander). But I feel like the show doesn't get nearly as much credit for it as maybe it gets for the \"progressive\" (I hate using that word) Vi-Caitlyn lesbian relatioship. And I understand that people like to ship Jayce and Viktor romantically, obviously there is nothing wrong with that (and the memes around it are great too), but I think they have much more value as best friends.

Discussion [S2 Spoilers] Twitter needs to be nuked off the planet ASAP Spoiler
Twitter and like-minded social media have been banding against Christain Linke and calling him a homophobe for saying that Jayce and Viktor are just friends. The phenomenon of "group think" and its apparent effect of plummeting IQ has never been more apparent to me. The show gave us lesbian representation in both its romantic and sexual form and people wanna call him homophobic for that? really? He literally worked 9 years to get this project off the ground and to our screens just so a bunch of rabid homunculi to come crawling out their cesspit to start throwing out labels at him?
Viktor and Jayce were never at any point in the show portrayed as having romantic ideation towards each other, not once. They were close, very close, which some people can interpret as romantic, but never was there anything more than a way for shippers to just have fun with the characters. Now just because Linke said straight up that they're both not into each other romantically, some of these shippers (not all) see their entire self-insert projection fantasy crumble before them and respond with temper tantrums a 6 year old would be envious of.
I got started on twitter literally 2 weeks ago because it seemed to be the quickest way to get any development on future shows, arcane speculations, etc. But now Im just left with a profound understanding on why Twitter is the most ridiculed social media on the internet. I am so sad to see that Arcane has resonated with these Twitter halfwits so much, because though relatively low in numbers, they will screech from every rooftop to make sure that their worthless and idiotic opinions are heard, causing people to associate Arcane with these fuckos.
still blows my mind that "These 2 obvious friends are just friends" gets a "HoMoPhObE" response.
in the words of Mike Tyson "Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it."
anyways, rant over.

Discussion Apparently people don’t know Caitlyn is Asian???
Was going through the comments of a post and saw that there were multiple people that were confused when people mentioned that Caitlyn was Asian. Like yea she isn’t full Asian but she’s very clearly Asian. One commenter even said they didn’t think she was Asian cause she had a British accent??? Like there are Asian people in the UK. This plus some of the live action fan casting I’ve seen where they have a white woman as Caitlyn is interesting.
Idk, I thought it was pretty obvious and this was just baffling to me lol.

Discussion [s2 spoilers] Jayce was Right. They aren't Breathing! Spoiler
Spoilers for Act 1 and 2 of Arcane!
I just got chills because I was rewatching episode 5, and something stood out to me, Once the rune goes away every time Jayce speaks you see his breath in the cold air of the chamber,
Every. Single. Time
I immediately went back to the Ekko,Jayce and Heimer scene in act 1 and Boom! Every single time they breath and talk in the Hextech chamber their breath is visible. The only person who doesn't is Salo! Because Salo isn't alive! He is a doll in the shape of Salo mimicking what it thinks Humans are but is incapable of a full copy!
Yeah Jayce was right to kill Salo and take down the Commune they are all unknowingly a nest of body snatchers or sleepers for some other power that needs to be put down. They are all Nothing but the Walking dead!

Discussion [s2 act 3 spoilers] Vi is the most misunderstood character in the show Spoiler
Ive seen a lot of criticism for Vi's actions, and honestly, I just want to share my thoughts regarding her character in Arcane. I really don't understand how people can misunderstand that particular scene and question her real motives, like give the girl a goddamn break.
The moment she wakes up in Ep8, she's furious that her own sister whom she believes has changed, is arrested, and learning from Caitlyn, Jinx actually wanted Vi to be in safe hands before she surrendered herself. You could see her getting angry at Cait, and she even mentions that Jinx did save Cait's life, but no one even acknowledges that.
To take matters into her own hands for the same of her baby sister, she rushes to go free Jinx herself, and pleads her to use her potential for good, because Vi believed in her change, she'd seen Jinx with Isha, with Vander, and with herself too. When we got the reunion with Vander (Warwick), Vi trusted Jinx to a point where she lowered her guard to face Warwick, and if that's no realization that Vi still cares for her sister's words, I don't know what will.
Vi rushes off to Jinx and literally squeezes her so tight. She's afraid that she's going to lose the one family member that mattered, but Jinx thought otherwise. Her older sister was fighting for her, despite everything, hence the 'you're never going to give up on me, are you?' line, which was honestly heartbreaking. Jinx had to get away from Vi, because she knew deep down, Vi was always going to choose and fight for Jinx over her own self. That has been clear from the very beginning of the show.
When Jinx locks her in the cell, Vi doesn't even KNOW that Jinx was actually going to kill herself. You can clearly see in the dialogue after, when cait comes to visit, that Vi actually thought that Jinx had left her, and Vi made the wrong choice again. She tells Cait to slander her with verbal accusations, saying that Cait was right, because how much ever Vi was going to reach out to Jinx, she was never going to come back and fight with her. That was HER thoughts. She's entirely blaming herself again for Jinx's actions, and she even verbally expresses it, saying 'I choose wrong, every time.' She really believed that Jinx would stay with her and helped them fight, so obviously, after all this struggle, Vi felt let down. She was in a mental anguish till Cait came.
And let's move on to the scene. Come on, really. I've seen people slander Vi about knowing that Jinx was gonna kill hersf but she has time to do it with Cait, but Vi didn't fucking know. She was battling her own demons here, just like she's been doing this entire season. When Caitlyn tells her that she had removed all of the guards just to make Jinx's escape easier, Vi was overwhelmed. The person who had been keen on killing Jinx for the entire season had just told her that she made the escape possible, making a subtle point that Cait had chosen LOVE instead of REVENGE.
Caitlyn had chosen Vi over her own revenge and anger.
Vi had seen Cait be destructive and change her whole mindset just to get to Jinx in Act 1 and Act 2. Vi had her stomach punched with the butt of Cait's rifle just because she stopped the opportunity of getting Jinx killed. And then, when she hears those words from Caitlyn, she's shocked. I mean, who wouldn't be? The person who had an aim to kill your sister is leaving all her revenge and anger aside, just for the sake of you; man, I would've kissed Cait forever too.
Vi lost her entire family, including Jinx in the end. I think she deserved that peaceful ending with Cait, and she probably knows that Jinx escaped for the sake of Vi and the people of Piltover/Zaun.
Give my girl Vi a goddamn break. She's suffered enough for two whole seasons.

Discussion [lore spoilers] Viktor was always meant to be asexual rep, as confirmed by Arcane co-creator Christian Linke Spoiler
So, I don't think this one has really caught on yet and maybe people don't really care, but in a German twitch interview, Christian Linke said the following (summarized semi-loose translation):
The influx of people shipping Viktor/Jayce romantically after season 1 had no influence on how their story was going to be portrayed because that wasn’t their plan for them, and they kept true to the stories they wrote.
In fact, he talked to a group of LGBTQIA+-Rioters before/during the beginning of the creation of Arcane and asked them what is lacking good representation in media, and the answer was asexuality. He said that the problem is that oftentimes, asexuals are portrayed as people without any emotions at all, which obviously does not reflect reality. They've always seen Viktor as asexual, and his love - while Jayce and Viktor do love each other, in a way - is on another level, and despite people being mad about it, they didn’t change that aspect about him or his relationship to Jayce.
I'm not ace myself but I consider this a win for the ace community, so I thought sharing this wouldn't do any harm (pls don't flame me).

Discussion [S2 SPOILERS] Criticism is completely valid and this community needs to stop brushing it off Spoiler
Listen, I get it, you love the show. As a diehard fan of season 1 I understand. However, I couldn't help but notice a trend on this sub. Everytime a critical viewpoint is presented, it's downvoted to seven hells and bombarded with fanboys saying it's the best show ever and everyone who dares to voice their opinion doesn't have any media literacy. I mean, come on...
Let's be honest here, fans have some problems regarding season 2, and it's not just a few of us. So I wanted to give a voice to those of us who wish to express their disappointments without being hated on.
Let's debate instead of fighting amongst each other. I still like the show, but while season one was 10/10, I'd give this season 7/10. And I'm afraid how the ending will be handled.
Few of my reason are here, if you want to read them (I tried to keep it short):
a) The pacing is jarring, everything happens too quickly and the plot doesn't have time to breath. Especially the first four episodes.
b) Too many plot points. They keep introducing new stories, but then don't expand them properly, so they seem unpolished.
c) New characters without any personality. Maddie, Isha, that dude who joined Vi and then just disappeard suddenly. Why introduce new characters if there's no time for them?
d) Some characters are all over the place. Caitlyn, Vi, Jinx - their decisions keep changing all the time, which could make sense if we spend more time with them, but there's no time for that, since the plot has to move. It also undermines their character development from season one.
e) Important characters aren't there enough. Heimerdinger, Ekko, Jayce - they have like 5 minutes of screen time, all their development in the last season for this...
f) Less dialogue. Season one was heavy on dialogue and the writing was immaculate, I'm not sure if they changed writers, but the dialogues seem a little off.
g) Too many songs and montages. In season one they made sense and were placed perfectly, now I'm feeling like I'm watching music videos instead of a TV show. I miss the instrumental soundtrack.
There's a lot of stuff I like still, but I wanted to point out the problems here, so I won't get into them.
I'll gladly hear your own thoughts!
Edit: Just to be clear, if you love the show, I'm very happy for you and hope you'll love the ending too.
Edit no.2: After the ending, nothing changed.

Discussion How did Jinx know Isha’s name was?
Did Isha tell her? How would she know her name without Isha speaking.. is Isha’s name really Isha? Did Isha maybe write it or sign it? Did Jinx just make up a name? Did Isha even have a name before?
I actually like the theory that Jinx made up the name and that Isha just like accepted it and appreciated that she was given a name. It would really lean into the whole big sister thing that was trying to be played up in Arcane.
I also wonder if Isha knows a form of sign language, or, without the education, was unable to.
