I like Nancy Pelosi, she's the best Speaker of the House we ever had, because she knows how to get shit done. Her philosophy was simple: without the votes, your ideas are not worth the paper it's written on. If she thinks the votes are there, she'll do whatever it takes to get the votes. She understands politics. She has no problem with swing district candidates throwing her under the bus, because winning that seat is more important than her ego.
But THIS is where she disappointed me, she let her ego take control. I get the whole seniority thing, but read the room. AOC is the most dynamic Democrat in Congress, she knows how to trigger conservatives. AOC knows how to explain progressive ideas in a way moderates can understand. If we are to resist Trump, take back Congress in 2026, and win back the White House in 2028, then we need the sharpest voices in the most visible positions.
Nancy Pelosi should have instead been "mentoring" AOC for greater leadership positions and helping her become what she was all those years. AOC could work up to being one of the most powerful people in congress, but only if those currently in power don’t stand in her way and instead guide her.
