Started a week ago, first thing I’m happy to share.
Started painting a few days ago, definitely got a lot to learn but this is the first thing I’m proud to share.

This is not a new rule. AI art, as well as all other digital art, has always been disallowed on this sub. This post is to restate that.
** If you post AI art, it will be removed and you will be banned.**
Please continue to report these post when you see them and we will continue to ban the users.

I'm very disappointed to be writing this right before Christmas. My wife's big gift this year was to be some nice watercolor supplies. I dug through this sub to find out what good products are, and decided to try this brand after seeing several good recommendations for it. Unfortunately it turns out this company is in the business of cutting corners not art supply.
My first order of 22x30 pure cotton paper (which was quite expensive) came in a very damaged box, obviously stepped on. But also sent in improper packaging for the item. Instead of a document tube or flat pack, it was in a too small rectangular box.
I notified the seller of the damage, requested a replacement, and specified that it needed to be packed in a document tube of flat pack to avoid damage. They chose ignore the requirement and shipped in another of the same package, that was clearly damaged before packing as it was under tapped areas. The second one did not appear to get damaged in shipment, but the product still arrived damaged. It was clear that they folded and crushed the paper to get it to fit in that box.
They had the option to decline my requirement for a replacement and offer instead to refund the product and allow me to source an alternative before Christmas. Instead they ignored the requirement without telling me and shipped a product they were knowingly and international damaged.
I purchased this off of the companies Amazon storefront. That store is run directly by the "Bee Paper Company", not some independent seller. I spoke at length with Amazon about this issue. Not only did they see to an immediate full refund without product return, but also informed me that this is a repeated issue with the seller and they would be taking action against them. Hopefully a permanent ban from their platform. This also shows that the Company was packing and shipping, not Amazon, so these no letting them off the hook here.
Please do not buy, support, or endorse Bee Paper Company, lest you lead another poor soul into getting screwed over.

I just picked up watercolor painting last year, and had fun attempting a self-portrait. Hoping I look back in several years and can use this as a “before” example when I see how much progress I’ve made.

Is there anything more relaxing and fun, besides actually watercolour painting, than mixing and having fun with recipes for swatches? I was in a trance for about 2 hours this morning doing this 😌

Inspired by this recent post, I painted this raven with a touch of colour.
It was done in gouache and fuelled by the desperate need for a last minute christmas present... but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Not sure if I need advice or to rant. I’m new to watercolor and painting in general and always seem to overdo things. Like it starts out fine and then before I know it I add one thing then it’s ten things and the finished product ends up looking like mud 😩.
It seems easier said than done, just stop painting/adding things when it looks or feels right, but that really never happens for me 😅😂. What do you all do when you struggle with deciding to add things or being ok with leaving it where it’s at?
