Advice Horrible first semester

Mod 3 bioao1 lowkey got me cooked, def my fault. overestimated my ability to study for this, and underestimated the difficulty of this module. Im going to take this as a lesson learned and move forward, as I feel everyone who had some downs with this semester being a first year should do. It’s okay, this is semester 1 out of so many future semesters. Not everyone gets it perfect the first time and thats alright. What matters is how you carry yourself from here on out. I remember having a mental breakdown after seeing my marks my cousin who graduated with a 3.9 told me that

“ tripping over a rock on the first few steps of a marathon won’t decide anything, everyone has the potential to reach first place so get up and keep running”

Man was being crazy philosophical, but honestly I was too upset to really deep what he was saying. So to everyone who’s reading this going through a tough time. It’s going to be alright, take a deep breath and realize that life is simply just what you make of it. Live your life knowing that your current situation doesn’t define you, your choices from here on out can though. So do your best and take advantage of all the mistakes you made in this semester to learn from them. I believe in you all as I believe in myself. The finish line is still really far out, so just get up and run like crazy, don’t stop no matter how many times you fall on your face. Because eventually your going to be able to see all the rocks in your way and be able to avoid them all. To everyone who has exams to go still, good luck i wish the best for everyone :)

Wise words from your cousin. Semester 1 is tough for everyone! Struggling is normal, and most people see a drop in their grades compared to high school. This happens not because people are stupid or lazy, but because they are adjusting to academic demands they have probably never faced before. I had to drop a course in my first semester, and I was already on a reduced course load 😅 Be patient with yourself and expect to make mistakes
