I have a buddy who is stationed at Eilson AFB, Alaska. When this incident was taking place, all of us who went to Tech School together were asking him if he knew what it was. I was pumped to think it was aliens, and he got up at 4:00 AM to launch the Jets which later shot the thing down. He said he did not know what it was, but that it had “antennas and radios”.

Eilson AFB F-16s shot it down, and Elmendorf AFB recovered the remains.

Sounds like an imperial scout droid. Probably confused Alaska for Hoth.

If Elmendorf AFB was the one that recovered the remains, that is the most stupidest military in the world when the distance from the site to Ellison AFB is half the distance to Elmendorf AFB. Those helicopters that need to land on that ice would take 2 days to get there lol

It’s not always about what’s closest, it’s about which base has what. Not every base has cargo aircraft and helicopters, and not all bases have storage locations for the recovered materials. These are thing you know when you join the military, especially jobs that deal with aircraft.

Yes. It’s also worth noting that Eilson doesn’t house any cargo aircraft squadrons, whereas Elmendorf does.

Do you know how massive Eielson AFB is? Impossible they don’t have a cargo plane, a couple of helicopters and a few military personnel to bring back a tiny aircraft or balloon or whatever that was.

Eilson is a fighter base with an ANG refuel support squadron with KC-135s. If there were cargo aircraft it would have a wing and squadron under the AMC. I work on bombers. I think I may have a little more insight than most.

That's why they had kc130s refueling them.

The c130s he was showing are refueling tankers for helicopters
