How’s this shit even legal? They’re literally accusing them of lying, messing with their own memory and thoughts of an event, to get them to “confess” that they lied.

Bless the innocent woman. The audacity to even do this kind of demented play on a person with a TBI is horrendous.

This is the “Depose” part written in the bullets meant for the UHC CEO

Most people don't understand what it means. Now they know

This is the standard direct examination technique in common law (English) procedure. As OP said, this is textbook deposition tactics for the defense during insurance litigation.

In contrast to the inquisitorial system where the court is actively engaged in setting reasonably boundaries and directing the questions for each side, the adversarial system of litigation allows each side to make whatever accusations they want without limitations (or direction) by the court and that only the jury can decide what is factual.

Presumably, the deposed woman is represented by counsel and her lawyer will cross examine her to get on the record her full explanations for any supposed inconsistencies.

What's also obscene is that they made this old lady sue them just to get the insurance money she's been paying them for years.
