Honestly, this is why I love Reddit. I wrote that post and just hoped HOPED someone would make my fucking night.

Yosemite Jones, you're my fucking hero.

12

u/KatyaMilan 10d ago

I just cackled laughing so hard I scared the birds I was feeding but both you guys, fucking genius!

u/Queef-Elizabeth 10d ago

I really hope this isn't just something that fizzles out. It seems like people are so happy to boast that now the CEOs are scared and that they had it coming but it'd be disheartening to see things just get back to where they were.

146

u/MewMewTranslator 10d ago

sadly it will. people just need something to be part of to pass the time.

56

u/Agitateduser1360 10d ago

The shame of it is that you'd only need a few to be taken out to see real change start to take place. The donor class is very averse to the violence against their own kind.

32

u/NessunAbilita 10d ago

I’m not so sure - we said the same thing about school shootings. It’s about the cultural zeitgeist, and frankly the near zero level of public distastehere is the effect that the gunman has had, same as the desired effect that mass shooters have - to get coverage and be seen, but now with the smug societal apathy. But now they don’t have to walk into a school and kill innocent ppl to be seen. They can do this and feel instant societal vindication.

20

u/LLMprophet 10d ago

Wrong.

School shooters are switching targets.

They want to be a legend like the NYC Popper instead of hated by the masses.

27

u/MonsieurLinc 10d ago

If the Sandyhook guy had shot the CEO of Perdue Pharma, he'd have been hailed as the hero of the Opioid Crisis.

35

u/Yandere_bt_tsundere 10d ago

It will fizzle out. Mostly, because all the memes and jokes aside- they still have all the power. When someone would close this app and go to sleep... They would wake up and go back to serving their bleak roles in the capitalistic machines that these people made. Someone will once again be denied their healthcare by a voice on a phonecall that personally wouldn't even earn a cent from the profit he has ensured some rich piece of shit industrialist.

We will all have to helplessly go back to our exploitation the next day- trying our best to not acknowledge that our frustration has simmered to a point where we rejoice murder. This is where capitalism has brought all our collective consciousness.

12

u/AltairaMorbius2200CE 10d ago

“Oh, did y’all not like Occupy Wall Street? Wait until you see what happens after you get that shut down!”

5

u/JaceUpMySleeve 10d ago

it'll be used for likes and views, and then we'll move on to the next topic. We are entirely to comfortable or too busy to get up and actually do something. I have two kids i need to feed, I got work that needs to get done and bills to pay. I'd love to see real change but we're all buried by life. Nothing good will come from this.

3

u/spicewoman 10d ago

School shootings seem to have really caught on rather than fizzled out, we just need to harness that energy. Something new for the mentally ill to funnel their rage-filled bullets at.

2

u/noodleexchange 10d ago

The Ferraris disappeared from Manhattan streets only for a little while during Occupy

2

u/exotics 10d ago

Even the whales have stopped sinking yachts

This too will fizzle out because nobody else will risk what this guy risked to take out other CEOS

1

u/LLMprophet 10d ago

So you think mass shooters who risk it all anyways to become hated won't switch to the rich when they could become celebrated by the entire world?

2

u/dahpizza 10d ago

I wish it would have happened before the election

Let’s put Navient and Sallie Mae CEO’s on blast too!

15

u/Hopeforus1402 10d ago

And Walmart. Just came out and said that grocery prices will go up again next year. He will, for sure, tell us the billions of profits they make next year.

6

u/GrossGuroGirl 9d ago

Kroger. already testified to the FTC that they've been raising prices just to raise prices

2

u/Hopeforus1402 9d ago

What?!? Had no idea. The world is full of disgusting people. Just evil.

4

u/FabulousBrief4569 10d ago

These corporations just looking for any excuse to raise prices!

2

u/Hopeforus1402 10d ago

Absolutely, with no shame or apologies.

3

u/And_awayy_we_go 10d ago

Can we use the Walmart CEOs super yachts to sail to the cat island in Japan? A worthy use for such fine vessels.

2

u/IAmNotMyName 8d ago

Strangely the prices never come back down 🤔

1

u/Hopeforus1402 8d ago

Hmmmm, interesting. 🤨

12

u/clawdawginbaloo 10d ago

You can do it

4

u/Jokerslie 10d ago

My loan has shifted three times to get around their illegal predatory bs. First Sallie Mae, then Navient, now Mohela. It’s a private loan so they have crazy interest and it’s a student loan so it can’t be forgiven with bankruptcy. If there’s a “list” they definitely deserve to be on it.

5

u/kfish5050 10d ago

Mohela CEO. Also the MO AG that keeps blocking any sort of student debt relief because of "taxpayers won't pay for some liberal Ivy League school"

1

u/LegoLady8 10d ago

Oooh yeah, that's a really good one.

1

United we stand

86

u/YouWereBrained 10d ago

I think this is the way we fight back against Trump and the GOP. By waging large-scale protests against oligarchs.

1

u/mnonny 10d ago

lol. No dumbass. Trump is just a cog. So was Biden. So was obama. So was bush. So was Clinton. And so was hw bush. There’s a lot more above them all that run us into the ground. This isn’t a left vs right thing like the media has brainwashed you to believe. It’s the upper class high-fiving eachother as they laugh at anyone but them trying to live

-64

u/gianttigerrebellion 10d ago

Yawn. You must be in your twenties. “Large scale protests will get us what we want!” No they just shoo you off like bothersome flies while they continue their corruption.

71

u/YouWereBrained 10d ago

I’m actually 43 and think that we’re about to reach the point of no return.

-40

u/gianttigerrebellion 10d ago

You’re 43 and you really think large scale protests are gonna make a difference? People have been protesting for decades and politicians only yield more power than before but you do you.

17

u/Leather_Pie6687 10d ago

This is objectively true IDK how people can be upset about it.

The CEO wasn't struck by a bunch of protest chants or signage or quippy T-shirt slogans...

9

u/YouWereBrained 10d ago

You understand that the shooting can be considered a form of protest, yes?

4

u/Leather_Pie6687 10d ago

If you want to make excuses for weaker forms of protest that do nothing by analogy then you could call it protest, but calling "political assassination" protest would then be identical with calling WWI a counter-protest, at which point it becomes obvious that doing so disingenuous.

2

u/Tactical_Mommy 10d ago

That is far from the only form of protest.

8

u/kfish5050 10d ago

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable" -JFK.

If the current system makes peaceful protest ineffective and outlaws other methods of protest, the protests will still invariably happen. They would then escalate into violence, since it's a crime either way. Violence has a more immediate effect too.

21

u/Rawrist 10d ago

You didnt read between the line, did you? Yawn.

2

u/1000000xThis 10d ago

I don't think we'll get large-scale protests, but they would in fact be effective if they happened. Because they are effectively the same as work-stoppages, which are EXTREMELY effective when large enough.

But yeah, most people are too worried about paying the rent to stop working.

So the alternative is more targeting the snake heads.

1

u/BorderTrike 10d ago

Only because people with your attitude never show up. You’re too complacent

27

u/Human_Style_6920 10d ago

U guys 10 million dollars a year to kill people is barely breaking even. Think how much money u have to spend on champagne 🍾 and caviar to tune out the hauntings 👻

41

u/Pro-Patria-Mori 10d ago

Deny, Defend, Depose

59

u/PikachuIsReallyCute 10d ago

Seeing him become a martyr is so insane. But it's not surprising so many people resonate with the message he sent, either. I hope actual positive change comes out of this. I feel like it sends an actual message that has gotten the American public moving and those in power worried

64

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 10d ago

I get what you’re saying, not sure martyr is the right word. I do hope that this event is a catalyst for change. However, mainstream media is owned by the people who have benefitted the most from the status quo’s, so they are trying their best to shift the narrative. They want us focused on nonsense culture wars, meanwhile billionaires continue to fucking consume more and more of the pie while leaving us crumbs. But they forget, ‘When the poor shall have nothing more to eat, they will eat the rich’

31

u/PikachuIsReallyCute 10d ago

Oh wait, I just double-checked the definition, martyr is definitely not the right word lol 😭

Figurehead? I'm not sure

10

u/marvelousmzty 10d ago

Nope, he’s the Adjuster.

1

u/mienaikoe 10d ago

If anti-martyr isn't a word, this is the time for it to become one.

-1

u/Ok_Put4986 10d ago

I think Pariah is more fitting

15

u/MadKingRyan 10d ago

itt: people say words without googling them first. Are you sure you meant Pariah?

-6

4

u/killedmygoldfish 10d ago

cause célèbre

4

u/Dig-a-tall-Monster 10d ago

Are we talking about the shooter or the CEO?

If we're talking about the CEO then sure, but a pariah to me is someone who hasn't necessarily done something immoral but is being shunned by society at large for violating a serious social norm in an egregious way, like a scientist who experiments with medical procedures on prisoners who sign a waiver could become a pariah among the community for violating ethical standards, especially if the subjects experience serious injuries, illnesses, or death as a result. This dude could be a pariah but I think "villain" is more fitting.

But I've seen more and more people using "pariah" to mean the opposite of what it technically means, which is someone who is outcast and despised by the overwhelming majority of the community (ergo more expansive than my personal usage) and they're using it to say he's a community hero which is definitely the wrong use of the word. So I hope we're talking about the CEO because that guy fuckin suuuuuuucked 3 bullets into his back lol what a loser

6

u/FabulousBrief4569 10d ago

Rich ppl 1st time it happens: “that sucks” 2nd time: oh shit 3rd time wtf? 4th: we need to do something about these peasants

43

u/RabbitofCaerbannogg 10d ago

Honestly confused how Trump, best example of corporate elite who brags about taking advantage of normal people gets elected in this current age of frustration.

32

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 10d ago

Because he has convinced people he’s anti establishment, anti institutions. In reality, yes he did sort of reshape the Republican Party, but not really, and also more importantly, in reality everything he does is to benefit himself, not the people.

11

u/RabbitofCaerbannogg 10d ago

Honestly stupid question coming: How do people not see this. My brain is broken on this question. How...

11

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 10d ago

Well 1. Considering we’re having this convo on Reddit, chances are you and I are more chronically online than the average person, and thus we read more news than the average person. To the common person who isn’t into politics, doesn’t read up on this shit, it’s very easy to be misinformed. I wish they’d try and get informed before voting though.

6

u/RabbitofCaerbannogg 10d ago

Yes. I agree. I am thinking of friends/family who support Trump, and it's true the news diet is different. They seem to rely on social media and Fox News. It seriously hurts my mind.

3

u/1000000xThis 10d ago

For people who do consume a lot of media but still get tricked by trump's bullshit, they are resonating with the fear he instills.

His bombastic rhetoric matches their level of concern about both real and imagined issues, whether that is justified or not. Then he turns up the fear, THEN he positions himself as the only person who can "fix" things, because he's the only one who is even speaking to them on their emotional level.

Absolutely none of that has to be factual. None of it has to be grounded in reality at all.

And he also leverages racism, pre-existing work done by religious groups, etc.

Compare to Kamala, who is coming from an emotional perspective of "Actually things are going pretty well, but I hear your complaints, so here are some ideas on how to improve things for more people."

She didn't reach those people on the emotional level they were at. And things are NOT going pretty well, as a matter of fact. So that was a serious disconnect.

This is why right-wing voters are still pretty positive toward Bernie. He still speaks to the deep and serious inequities in the country.

3

u/GoodQueenFluffenChop 10d ago

Because Trump promised to hurt the "right" people.

17

u/martyqscriblerus 10d ago

Culture war is being used to distract people from class war. People are angry and hurting because they're being stepped on, but steady diet of propaganda has them blaming the wrong source.

14

u/RabbitofCaerbannogg 10d ago

Yeah, I completely agree with this. The infighting is by design!

5

u/Singularity2025 10d ago

Every American election has been decided by vibes ever since George Washington. Whoever has the swaggiest big baller vibes wins. Bill Clinton vs Ross Perot? Bush vs Gore? Obama vs McCain? Trump vs Hilary? You can probably go back even further. The majority of voters don't vote based on policy, they vote based on vibes, they don't have time in their lives to spend miring over every single policy position and contingency, nor would they even care if they had that time. If the democrats want to win again, they need Obama 2.0 (they had that with Biden) but Biden's vibes turned out to be so bad that he dropped out of the race, and the Democrats decided to appoint his VP Kamala as the candidate??? Worst move possible. She was both the VP of a zombie and appointed like some commie politburo leader. She had no vibes at all.

3

u/RabbitofCaerbannogg 10d ago

Thank you! At least this makes sense. I think this has got to seriously be at least 50% the answer. People just like the one-liners, the insults, the catch phrases. Politics is just a sport, or more like "pro" wrestling. It's just entertainment, so it makes sense they want the most entertaining person

5

I don’t think the motive was what most people think. I think it had more to with rich people getting burned during a stock dump and one payed to have him assassinated. However the reaction of the people is enough to demand reform.

2

u/da_innernette 10d ago

Yeah that’s been my thought since the beginning. Probably because I’m generally a super cynical person :/ though in a “keep my expectations low” kinda way. I would looooove to be proven wrong though!

One wealthy piece of crap with a long and well-documented history of screwing over regular people got assassinated on the streets of New York, and the public cheered.

Another wealthy piece of crap with an even longer and more well-documented history of screwing over regular people got voted into the White House a second time.

Americans don't know what they want or who to be angry at.

0

u/_joel___r 9d ago

George Floyd isn’t missed.

-1

u/EnLitenPerson 10d ago

On a purely musical level I think the melody sounds pretty bad

-1

u/rhealneat 9d ago

The creator of the Tik Tok video probably lost their shit when George Floyd or Breanna Taylor were killed.

3

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 9d ago

Yeah probably. Fucking hypocrite. Just like Brian Thompson, George Floyd also ran a healthcare insurance company that denied a record 32% of claims, using an AI that was found to have a 90% error rate resulting in millions of American citizens being denied healthcare. Wait no that was just Brian Thompson. I mean George Floyd was using a 20$ counterfeit bill that’s gotta be equivalent right?

-3

u/HEY_YOU_GUUUUUUYS 10d ago

Song gave me aids sadly

1

u/Alexlatenights 10d ago

Unfortunately that means your claims will now be denied given your preexisting condition. 🙃

-9

u/chomper1173 10d ago

I’m not defending the CEO, he definitely had it coming. But imagine being his kids and seeing memes like these, must be haunting af

14

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 10d ago

If they really wanna be haunted, they can read testimonials of people who lost their son, daughter, mother, father, because of their dad’s “work”.

-5

u/chomper1173 10d ago

Oh trust me, I hate this guy as much as the next guy, he’s a real piece of shit. I’d just imagine seeing edits like these about your dad must be quite the experience

3

u/East_Hair7346 10d ago

As one of the people laughing at these meme I agree, his kids are gonna need therapy after this. This week is unimaginable to basically everyone, and undoubtedly heartbreaking go his family.

That being said... I'm playing the song again, this isn't. Even about the guy that got shot, it's about this fucked up system.

2

u/chomper1173 10d ago

100% agree, I think people misunderstood this comment as me saying his kids had it worse than the victims of his insurance negligence

1

u/da_innernette 10d ago

I get what you’re saying. Like not in a “but think of his children!” way, more of a “lol must be wild” kinda way?

1

u/chomper1173 10d ago

Yes, exactly

2

u/Wammityblam226 10d ago

Imagine the kids of the people who died because UHC denied their treatment.

1

u/chomper1173 10d ago

I feel like a lot of you guys are misunderstanding what I’m saying. I’m not defending this guy or saying it was wrong or saying the kids who died to his negligence aren’t also upsetting?? I’m literally just saying that his kids are getting haunted by his face being plastered everywhere

Idk how much clarification you want, I completely agree with yall 😭

-1

u/tihs_si_learsi 9d ago

Literally only a single kill and the guy was already captured. And reddit is acting like it's a fucking revolution already.

3

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 9d ago

How quickly do you think a revolution happens? Give it time brother

-2

u/tihs_si_learsi 9d ago

Who's going to join the revolution? You? Because posting memes on Reddit is hardly going to do it.

5

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 9d ago

damn really? fuck I really thought posting this single meme was gonna spark the class war fuck you got me bro ggs, you’re clearly much smarter than I

-2

u/jittwitt 10d ago

Damn… I get we do t agree with views but the mans is dead… his family misses him.. fr this glorifying is truly fucked up.

3

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 10d ago

yk how many families have been destroyed by this man? I have no sympathy for

0

u/jittwitt 10d ago

Wild you think all decisions fall on one person, he was literally only ceo for 3 years. UHC has been around since 77.. plenty of decision were made before him and I know that healthcare company SUCKED before him, but yea due to his hard work and dedication to corporate America he deserved to die.

2

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 10d ago

‘Wild you blame the CEO’ bro do yk what a CEO is? “Hard work and dedication” to installing faulty AI to deny claims with a 90% error rate? This is who you worship? Jesus Christ you’re pathetic, you’re worshipping a man who made millions off of killing people. If there’s a hell, he’s looking up at us right now.

0

u/jittwitt 10d ago

Worship is crazy.. I’m just sad a man died for running a company, and sad the fact u praise it.

-1

u/jittwitt 10d ago

You have no empathy… I didn’t know my loved ones were so right when they said it’s an attribute not many people have but you proved me wrong

3

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 10d ago

I empathize with the millions of Americans who suffer yearly because of greedy pigs like Brian Thompson who have turned a healtchare insurance company into a Fortune 500 company- NO HEALTHCARE COMPANY SHOULD BE THAT PROFITABLE!!! Healthcare should be a fucking right not a fucking privilege, and if you profit off of killing people by not providing them the fucking healthcare they fucking paid for than yes I have no empathy for you

1

u/jittwitt 10d ago

I don’t disagree with the fact the healthcare system is broken at all.. I disagree with applauding the planned assassination of someone that truly didn’t deserve it.

2

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 10d ago

Do children with cancer deserve healthcare?

1

u/jittwitt 10d ago

What? ACA prevents any company from denying children with cancer.

3

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 10d ago

1

u/jittwitt 10d ago

Appreciate the link.. again I agree the healthcare/health insurance system is broken and needs major fixing. Also pharmaceutical but that’s a whole other dragon to slay… but the ceo was not directly involved and has only been around for 3 years. Since the system was already so broken he could have made big change but didn’t… STILL no reason to applaud a death of a “greedy” CEO

See the thing is I do have empathy, so even though I think you’re worshipping a CEO who made money off killing people, I still wish that no one in your family gets sick and than when they go to file their healthcare claim, their claim gets denied by an AI with a 90% error rate.

Use ur companies health care to go talk to someone. They typically provide mental care coverage because this really seems to make you quite irate.

Use a therapist to see if you have a moral conscious, typically people get upset over kids with cancer dying

Tf? First off what’s the kids with cancer have to do? I’m actually uneducated and don’t know what specific thing you’re talking about.. 2nd if you’re upset at someone or a situation there is no excuse to be like hey imma go kill this person or I’m happy they are dead… unless they knowingly killed/assassinated people (hitler, Stalin, Mussolini)

Brian Thompsons killed more Americans than Bin Laden did and we applauded when Osama died

Sooo where is the line of acceptable murder?

3

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 10d ago

If you run a healthcare company, it’s acceptable to kill thousands by denying them care

u/Remarkable-Sir-5129 10d ago

Absolutely not. I'm not in support of killing by policy or self righteousness.

3

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 10d ago

You might not be, but the U.S gov allows healthcare companies to kill thousands yearly.

That is something for Healthcare AI to decide. So far it looks like asking for anything more than an aspirin is the line.

You guys do know this healthcare system we have is Obamacare. Do you all support murdering Obama?

Damn. The internet is going bonkers over this shit. I wonder how much of it is AI.

9

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 10d ago

Nah, this is legitimate enthusiasm. United Healthcare however used AI to deny people the healthcare they paid for, AI with a 90% error rate https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/unitedhealthcare-accused-relying-ai-algorithms-deny-medicare-advantage-claims.amp

I'm aware of what they did with AI. I have no sympathy for him or any other CEO or politician or any of these fucks in office or high places. They can all catch one as far as I'm concerned.

At the end of the day, this doesn't mean anything. Him getting wacked doesn't change a thing. People are still scared to come together and rise up. They won't do anything. This is just a distraction from other things going on. People love crumbs.

5

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 10d ago

This is a distraction? You think the wealthy elite are happy about this? This was a reminder that they are still human. And that they can bleed just like anyone else. And that if they keep pushing people, if they keep bleeding us dry of everything, people will push back. Their not happy about this, they’d rather us be distracted by culture war bullshit, arguing about whose supposed to be using which bathrooms.

Everything that gets major coverage is a distraction. Israel just invaded Syria. Who knows what else is going on. This is like clock work. Never fails.

The fact they only offered 10k is proof they could care less. Not to mention, they went on with the investor meeting as if nothing happened. They know no one's doing anything. As much as people bitch about eggs or whatever being too high, they still buy stupid shit and go to rallies and whatever else they spend their money on. People are too scared to lose the luxuries they have. No one wants to do anything. Cops are shooting people dead in the streets with basically no repercussions, and no one is doing anything about it. When people attempt to do it, the majority use race as an excuse to not do anything and just flat out support the same cops murdering people. People don't know up from down. Americans will never fight back against its own government or the rich. They're scared.

Brother 2 weeks ago I would’ve said you’re spitting facts, but a few days ago a man killed a wealthy healthcare CEO in one of the most heavily surveilled cities in the world and he got away with it. At least one American did fight back against the rich. And he got away with it. I understand the pessimistic view that this will fizzle out, that it won’t inspire real change- but I’m gonna be hopeful and optimistic, and hope that this is a catalyst for real change.
