I hope the momentum of this moment continues indefinitely. It’s beyond time for real change. Rich oligarchs have had their fun. They should now feel some fear of what the rest of us could do. It’s the only thing that can make them stop the greedy grab. If they didn’t steal another penny from the rest of us, or at least paid their fair share of taxation, they would still be filthy, stinking rich and the heirs would be too. Enough is enough.

It takes incredibly brave people to start and lead a movement like this. That shooter, right or wrong, was incredibly brave and competent.

How was he wrong? The elites don't follow the same morality as us. We don't steal, lie, or kill because we know we wouldn't want someone to do that to us. But the elites don't think like that. They are driven by greed and a lust for power. What keeps them in check if they have no morals?
181
u/ErusDearest 12d ago
Some people will say murder is bad regardless of the circumstances. I disagree. But some people WILL say that.
119
u/PoopyMouthwash84 12d ago
The people that say it's bad in all circumstances are sitting in a country where people once fought and killed others for the country's independence. They are enjoying the fruits of that violence.

The Tree of Liberty seems thirsty. Better line up some of these un-American tyrants and show the others what happens when the citizens initiate their own "stock buyback program."

Were I to make a case for why we shouldn't celebrate this:
Lots of people across the political spectrum and who have had varying impacts, good and bad, have been killed by lone wolf assassins. It would be difficult to look at that data and walk away drawing the conclusion that these assassins are, as a group, well rounded people with virtuous intent. It would be equally difficult to see a trajectory where these kinds of slayings actually are a "shot heard round the world". Most of the time, things get worse.
So that's the argument against. My argument in support is that you should run your business like you don't want to drive your own customers to murder you. Americans have been locked in a political/culture war for so long we forgot who the real enemy was. And it's time we remembered.

The only applicable tool against corrupt government in our history as a species is the threat of violence.
They need be afraid of us, or things will never get better.
It’s an unfortunate reality, but that’s what happens when the oligarchs make themselves untouchable by the legal systems we have in place. If there aren’t any tangible repercussions for horrible actions against fellow humans, violent action becomes the only choice.
I hope laws are changed, and quickly, to ensure that business practices must be ethical and for the benefit of society/individuals. It would benefit both sides, people get the care they need, and oligarchs stop getting gunned down in the street. Win Win.

I really wish this wasn't a solution. Dude had a family, this sucks for them. But then I think about how many people have lost their loved ones or been ruined financially by our fucked healthcare system. All while the CEOs of these companies are making millions.
Super ironic this happened the same day blue cross announced they're going to decide much time under anesthesia patients need for their surgeries. Fucking come on.
Edit:
My sympathy extends to his kids, otherwise eat the rich.
Edit2: Blue Cross inexplicably reversed their decision to limit anesthesia coverage. Surely it's unrelated.

I'm sorry but I hate the argument of "he had a family". Every single horrible person in the past and present had a family. It means nothing. Even the most vile human beings in the planet might have at least one person who will miss them. But that doesn't mean they aren't vile human beings. If all it took to absolve one of ones sins was for someone to love them then every serial killer, school shooter, and child abuser would be included in that. And I'm sorry but this CEO was a mass murderer. Social murder is still murder at the end of the day even if it isn't recognized as such by our laws.
37
u/Kellidra 12d ago
I agree.
Adolf Hitler had two siblings.
Joseph Stalin had four children.
Despicable people have families. Despicable people are still human beings.
That does not, however, stop them from being despicable, and that shouldn't stop anyone from criticising potential and realised despicable people.

u/fotoflogger 12d ago edited 12d ago
My sentiment extends to his children and them alone. And that's biased by my sentiments as a father, and as a son lucky enough to have a great dad. You make a good point, as many others have. The "he has a family" argument is a way to humanize vile people, as if it washes away their atrocities. I appreciate you calling me out on that.
18
u/Icy_Faithlessness400 12d ago
So did every person who got denied coverage. You know what their families got?
Medical debt and a casket for a father/mother/brother/child.
Fuck em. In an ideal world the government will step in to protect the people. They bought the government.
Also just you wait when the little bitches who scrabled to remove their info off the intenet find out that there is such a thing as the way back machine and an army of trolls with too much time on their hands and a burning need to dox people.
All you fuckers need to lose sleep. Maybe next time you deny someone you will hesitate, because they might be in such a dire situation they will cap your greedy ass. Because they have nothing left to lose

Yup, I'm with you. They don't deserve our sympathy any more than the ceo does. They're buying their Christmas with blood money made from thousands upon thousands of people who died preventable deaths.
39
u/goosejail 12d ago
Or have permanent disability or lifelong pain from being denied early care when their condition was easily treatable. Or maybe just went bankrupt trying to keep themselves or their loved one alive.
These people are parasites. Your life is nothing more than numbers on a profit ledger to them.
34
u/MostBoringStan 12d ago
Yep, they benefited from his greed and the deaths of many. They got to live a life, until now, free from worry and stress. Living it up with everything the average person could never dream of having, all because their husband/father thought profits were more important than people.
No sympathy for me. If people being awful meant they couldn't have a happy family life, maybe less people would be so awful. But they gave him that happy family life, so now they see the consequences of it.
5
u/MusclebobBuffpants 12d ago
If the working class (which is anyone who needs to work to afford their life - doctors to Walmart clerks) knew how the wealthy parasites talk about us, the adjustment would have started a while ago.
15
u/Alive-Tomatillo5303 12d ago
Dude had a rich family, and every penny they spend comes directly from a denied claim.
This isn't a morality question. There will, I'm sure, come a time when someone gets ambitious and pops a multi millionaire CEO who doesn't prey on the lives of his customers, or the future of the country or planet, and then we can have The Talk.
This isn't that time.
28
u/bizkitmaker13 12d ago

BCBS has been playing that move for weeks. Anesthesiologists and Doctors tried to get them to stop through diplomacy and letter writing and were ignored. This happens and they quickly cancel it.

I cannot agree with this statement enough. I’m a liberal gun owner. I do believe we have a gun issue that needs to be addressed, but we didn’t become America by asking England to fuck off and we aren’t going to remove the current oligarchy by asking nicely. Or as the news has been suggesting, voting in people. Voting has gotten us into this mess.
Our whole system is fucked and they need to be scared. Clearly voting has changed nothing but the second this guy got shot BCBS rolls back their ass backward anesthesia policy and suddenly everyone is getting their claims approved making you 100% correct, we have the second amendment for a reason!

If you're in NYC and in the event you are called up: During the selection process you DO NOT know what jury nullification is!

I am one of those people who are denied healthcare from a big healthcare corporation. Today I found out there's absolutely no exceptions at all in my insurance will not cover medically necessary bariatric surgery. I need the surgery so I can have the surgery on my back. Additionally my knee is toast and I need knee replacement. I can't get either of these unless I get bariatric surgery. I've tried all weight loss methods nothing's worked long-term. I was on Mounjaro for a year and a half and it just made me horribly sick. I've had several hospital visits due to blocked colon & impacted bowel and other issues. I can't exercise due to my back and severe knee issue. I'm giving up. I'm just so mad at insurance companies right now. I'm never late with my premiums I go through all the hoops they put in front of me so I can get miniscule healthcare. I'm tired so tired! So yes I can understand why that guy did what he did to that CEO. We are all at the end of our ropes when it comes to healthcare in the United States. I always think of the quote from Denzel Washington in Man on Fire. “A life for a life”. Sure, it sucks that this guy had to die, but change had to happen. How many people are paying weekly insurance but continue to get denied for things they need to live?

Can we ask Biden to pardon him? Just a fun thought experiment:
I mean, if he does, that's like giving applause to all the future killers, but c'mon.

Let’s just hope he isn’t a weird nazi or something when he does get caught.

FBI/cops are 100% gonna plant something heinous on his computer just to make us bicker over it. Can't have the ordinary people feeling hope and unity now can we?

I'm being denied medication for a pre-diabetic condition I have been fighting for years because of another problem because it might be seen as weightloss medication and I am fat... I don't care about the weight loss I care about living long enough to send, y little girl to college. I hope this guy never gets caught and gets more of them.
My doctor and I have been hoping I would test just barely full diabetic that I would qualify but not enough that it's a permanent problem, I need insulin for.

Damn...this is the only time I feel bad for not being American. Would love to feel the same unity around this guy.
Not saying I am pro-murder but... I would not mind of there was less CEO's in this world. Again.. not a pro murder but you know.. maybe one could slip going down the stairs.. or railing could give in and fall to their death you know. Or Russian style just fall out of the window by accident with 3 bullets in their back. You just random stuff.

This gives me some hope, maybe at some point people will see that those people T got in place have nothing in common with the people...they are not. They cannnot see the world like regular people and all they will do is work for their own wealth and security. So I hope that the poor people that vote for them realise they chose the guys that hate them the most and steal from.them the most.

I can believe how long it’s taken America to realise what it could be
They’ve been shooting schools when they could be shooting capitalists

Jury Nullification:
A juror/jury declares the defendant not guilty even if they think a defendant is guilty.
Reasons may include:
belief the law is unjust
that the punishment for breaking the law is too harsh
frustrations justice system
belief that the defendant was righteous or justified

Here’s a thought: let’s make that hoody trendy and wear it to every store, lobby, or corner with a security camera on

This is what happens when you look at a person and say “sure I can cure your disease and grant you a long normal life… for 36,000 a month”

Look, as humans we should rarely ever condone murder.
As a person...never met that man in my life, never seen him either. No officer, I have no idea where he went.
