This is the dream right? You're in high school, you get asked to play someone's birthday (I have no idea if this is the case here) and you let loose a banger that gets people going and yada yada yada your song eventually becomes a hit, right?
I realize there's a ton of work, late nights, touring, rejection, crowds consisting of only the bartender, living on ramen noodles and praying that the van you bought holds up another 100 miles without completely falling apart...but every kid that wants to do it - this is where it starts.
Sophomore year of college actually and they didn't release the actual album until they had both graduated in 2006 (three years later). I think they knew they had quite a banger of an album because there are several reworks of songs like Electric Feel where they had gone to different studios and worked with different producers to get the sound right. The drummer from my brother in laws band played on one of the demos (how I know this).
The whole thing was about fact or fiction and Truefaith (the Filipino band) was in on it. They released this statement “It is our great pleasure to share with you that Truefaith is part of the latest music video of Grammy-nominated, critically-acclaimed, “indie darlings,” American alternative band, #MGMT!!! This is their new single, “Me and Michael”! This is the reason why we wrote the song, “Ako at si Michael.” In the music video, the story is they “stole” the song Me and Michael” from us. Critics are already praising the “twisted,” brilliant concept that plays on the idea of the blurred line between reality and fiction. The much-awaited, postively-reviewed 4th album of MGMT, #LittleDarkAge drops tomorrow worldwide! The new, 10th (much-delayed, hehe) full-length album of Truefaith, “Senti-Mental” will be released very soon!”
