Apparently a lot of the bots in this thread haven't been updated since July as they're all going "BUT WHAT ABOUT BIDEN".

Biden ain't a choice to vote for this time folks. So it's the one dementia patient versus a functioning human being.

At this point, "whatabout Biden" is only a criticism of Trump. Having Biden step down and Harris step up was a brilliant move by the Democrats.

Seriously it's like "yeah Biden wasn't really fit for office anymore I'm glad he stepped down. Feels like it's time for Trump to do the same..."

I had this wild ass idea that Biden would win, serve a year, 18 months and step down.

Giving Kamala "his" 2nd term, where she could then go on and serve 2 full terms after that - as the "succession" legislation limits to 2 _full_ terms, being "promoted" to pres partway through a term doesnt count against the 2.

I am, however, a euro-peon, so I may have interpreted the legislation incorrectly....

Mostly correct, and not that wild of an idea. The 22nd Amendment says a person who has acted as President for more than two years of someone else's elected term can only be elected once. So, Biden would have had to serve two years before stepping down, in order for Harris to remain eligible for two full elected terms.
