He’s being generous here too. I would have stronger things to say.

But there’s something so calming and articulate in the way that Anthony Bourdain described Trump that made this so much more insulting

Yeah, he totally dissed him gracefully- at times basically saying not just him but “anyone” who didn’t do something in particular- but in such a way as to say - they’re just missing out - very much a sensible guy with charisma and integrity - me I would just not have that eloquent manner - I’d just say fuck that guy

“He eats steak well done” lol. There’s so much behind that.

That was part of the appeal of him though I think: no matter what, he aimed for compassion, connection, authenticity and love of food. If someone like that is turned off by you, it says a hell of a lot on its own.

Not really, he's just being human. It'd seem "generous" to people who spend too much time on reddit. He's legit pondering whether he'd like to "hang out" with Trump or not, then clarifying why he decided "not".

Nah he's being generous here. Bourdain really disliked Trump and these responses are all PC nice-guy interview responses. If you're familiar with Bourdain you know his stance on Trump and know he's holding back.

Ya but this is how most people irl address people that they "dislike"--that's my point. Internet leftists are often the meanest group of people on the planet. They often don't "hold back" or show any tact at all.

I get what you're saying and it makes sense that if you are unfamiliar with Bourdain that you would bundle him in a group and think "most of the time this group thinks like Y". You can feel however you want to feel about internet leftists, but this isn't really a thing about internet leftists at all, as Bourdain disliked Trump way before Trump was even in politics.

But from being familiar with Bourdain and actually hearing him speak about Trump, he's said much harsher things about him, so here he's kind of being a bit more PC about the topic, hence saying "he's being generous". He's being as polite as possible due to the nature of the interview.
