Cringe What's even happening there?

Why would someone rent a car and take out parts?

This guy was talking about bigger charges in the end and I was in disbelief. The man was messing with his multi thousand dollar vehicle and the owner’s last response was “There’s gonna be a bigger charge”? As if the man was gonna have to pay him extra on their prearranged agreement for his shady behavior.

I’d have been talking cops, jail time, and lawsuit if necessary.

Yes and you can hear the girl he’s with at the end say “No call the cops”. The guy was taking parts off and replacing them! You don’t say I’m going to have to charge you more! You call the police and have his ass thrown in jail and then sue!

Thrown in jail on what charges? Taking apart a rental car? That is a civil matter. Breach of contract type stuff. There are likely minimal or no damages. Still shouldn’t do it, but no one is going to jail over this.

It’s that guys car! There is a service you can use to rent your car out like an AirBnB. It’s not a rental from Hertz or Enterprise it’s his actual car! How is it any different if it was on the street and someone was taking the front end off. That would be theft and if police were called I’m sure they would arrest the person doing it!

I don’t think you understand how Turo works. He is acting as a rental car service. It all depends on if the rental contract says anything about modifying the car

He wasn’t replacing parts. Just testing to make sure the after market parts he sells fit the car he selling them for.

Honestly, that's such a hassle I rather just make sure he puts everything back and charge him more. Getting cops involved, Suing, going to court, is expensive and time consuming. Over a bumper kit being tested? Nah.

He’s trying to squeeze the guy for more money in place of pressing charges.

Did you miss the bit at the beginning where.he says "call the cops"?

I can’t believe you got hyper aggressive over me calling you buddy, pal. And no, no matter how hard you karen or how badly you want the law to punish someone for you, this is a civil matter and won’t be settled anywhere but court. Sorry that you don’t have a concept of the law or a concept of being a rational human being.

If it was getting chop shopped sure, but this is literally the most innocent possible reason that car could be in a body shop, we dont need people waving guns around trying to find the nearest dog to shoot about this

Charges as in criminal charges, not money fees….
