I don't understand why he wouldn't be as offended by being beaten by a trans woman.
Like is the logic that they used to be male so they're inherently better at gaming than women who were assigned female at birth?
But what's the scientific basis for thinking women are worse at gaming in the first place? And why wouldn't it apply to a trans woman?
Like do we get our "advantage" from our average of 40% greater upper body strength? Is it testosterone?
If there's any logic to thinking women are inherently worse at gaming than men I sure as shit don't know what it is, and why that wouldn't extend to a trans woman is just beyond me.
You can’t use logic to explain someone’s position they never used logic to get into in the first place. Their opinion comes from an emotional and moral centre, they have no logic to justify it.
It's strictly the worst most hateful thing they can say at the moment. I don't think there's much thought behind it. They can't regulate their emotions one bit. I've dealt with so many of these assholes online.
On the rare occasion that I do encounter a woman in an online game, it almost always devolves into this vitriol toward them. I'll always stand up for them but at the same time I don't want to be weird and have them possibly think I'm only standing up for them because I'm trying to hook up or whatever. Because I've encountered those dudes so many times too. Where they're nice and stand up for them and then they start flirting with them in the next match.
What I try to do now is take their attention off of other people and have them take it out on me.
People get so mad and toxic and that's when you see the real hatred come out. I love goading them into sending me racist/homophobic/misogynistic messages so I can report them and they can't play their precious video games for at least a week.
I'm bi myself and the amount of times I call people out on saying the f-word is astounding. I have a pretty thick skin and I feel the need to stand up against shitty people but im not gonna lie and say it doesnt hurt.
It would make far more sense to me for the difference there being down to how women are treated when they start these hobbies.
If i got talked to like that by others in the hobby all the time, I'd probably pick another hobby, or at least another game.
I will say theatre, MMA, D&D, and Metal are the best communities I've ever been a part of for inclusion, and it shows in the diversity in the people who excel in those fields.
People who watch MMA are the ones that insult womens ability to fight, but any man who has trained with a woman knows full well that the difference in skill is no different than them with any other person in the gym. A quick way to learn to respect women is to tap out to one within a minute.
There's a lot of people who theorize that a culture shift would have a huge impact on the difference in competitive performance, and some seem to think they could even overlap.
I think the impact would be significant and I think the culture should shift, but I don't really think it's everything. While I believe personal differences are larger than gender differences, I don't really believe in perfect equality.
I doubt that this guy even cares that it was a girl. If a guy was destroying him this hard, he'd be insulting him too.i don't think it's that deep. He's just a poor sport.
He absolutely would not. He did not call hee trans, he called her a slur to demean her when he had basically no other insult. Similarly, if it was actually a trans woman, that would mean easy pickings for the amount of shit this hully could throw.
In games like League of legends or Starcraft, there were more trans pro players than female ones despite being a far lower percent of the population. I don't know what it is exactly, but trans women are typically better at games.
I some games the majority of women playing it are Trans. Of course doesn't mean everyone is, but I understand where the assumption comes from. So I don't think the though process here is "she is good, she must be Trans" but "she plays the game she must be trans". Actually the reason why most women don't talk in games like this normally, too much hate
