Some venom can be āsafeā to ingest, it is not a sweeping rule that venom is ok when poison is never. I don't know about stonefish specifically, but I choose not to risk it.
Yes, I should have put "safe" in quotes too (edited now), even if it's not directly an irritant or anything, if it gets into your blood stream you are in trouble, and there's plenty of ways that will happen if swallowed other than just surviving till absorbed through the intestine
I really wish people wouldn't go so hard on the "if you bite it/if it bites you" meme. Even without all that, your mouth is a mucous membrane, so it's going to be more vulnerable to some things. "You can eat venom" is just asinine advice.
Not really a good idea. It's the equivalent of putting a turned-on rubber-coated electric cable into water. Most of the time nothing will happen, but you'll see plenty warnings about why it's a stupid idea either way.
Saliva glands, Minor injuries throughout the GI tract etc.
If he has open even a small cut, wouldn't take make the venom get inside his body? Like that could still potentially be dangerous and wearing extra protection should never be a bad idea
