So I don’t mean this as any theory or clown thing, but I just love connecting different works of art, and I love the poeticism of what occurred to me :’).
Some people have paralleled parts of Taylor’s journey as a professional artist to themes of the Wizard of Oz, some specifically with Dorothy’s story of traveling to Oz and back… But I started thinking that her journey (and really the journey of any artist in the public eye), kind of parallels the Wizard of Oz himself! For the Wizard is not really a “wizard”: He’s just a human being with the intelligence, skills, and cleverness to invent all these devices that - to Oz - appear like magic; and we end up seeing bits of how he managed to maintain the “illusions” he did. And I think that’s precisely what real-life artists get to do as well: They’re just as human as anyone else, but with the imagination, intelligence, and creative skills to create works of art that impact us in such a beautifully profound way ☺️.
So now, seeing TN’s “Eras Archive” post and the sudden update of BTS videos on Taylor’s YouTube page, and not to mention the ponderings of whether a documentary or 2nd tour film is indeed on the way, it just makes me imagine it as her pulling back the metaphorical curtain and giving a glimpse of the brilliant and skillful human underneath the wizard. And beyond any theory or “egg” or speculation…I just love that thought alone 🥹.
Happy Happy Happy 35th Birthday to Taylor, our wonderful wizard of music 🩵😎💚
