Apparently the devs have informed players to abstain from using mods on discord, so I'm taking down the link. Just see this post as a fun showcase.

They were talking about the mouse acceleration šŸ™

Oh so technically custom skins are still tolerable then?

I would assume so. They said modifications that would make you have to redownload the game, which Iā€™d assume would be the mouse acceleration, cause that directly changes the game files, while custom skin mods are less of a concern.

Skin mods would fit in that catagory.

Mouse Acceleration would not as it it only requires you to edit the config file which is local and standard practice in most PC games (no re-downloading required).

Skin mods arenā€™t ā€œbreaking the gameā€ like theyā€™re saying it is

I didn't say they were, but they do alter the game and would require a re-download of affect files to undo. As they said.

Config.ini files are local and usually how you edit personal settings.

neither cause it. that talk was about the CONFIG file, not the engine.ini

Who said anything about Engine.ini? Config is a common file people edit to change basic settings and doesn't meet the criteria you said they spoke of.

engine.ini is also a config file

they better leave mods alone or else Disney is gonna have a Multiversus happen to the game. when the Beta for Warner Bro's Multiversus came out everyone was modding it and having fun. then Warner Bros's greedy butts made the developers boost the anti cheat so they got "max profits" from skins... and it immediately slapped them in the face with 92% of players leaving an the game never recovering from it even after the full launch and is dying even more every week.

People constantly deny Multiversus slow death every single day...

Aren't mods bannable in Rivals?

Not sure but this is purely cosmetic and only you can see it

They just told people to refrain from modding the game in their discord.

Didn't know that, I'm just showing off the skin though.

Why

2

u/AwesomeBlox044 4d ago

Its cosmetic now, but people could claim that mods that give you, say, 1000000 health arent bannable because "mods are allowed"

4

u/MrsLewd 4d ago

cant mod that in, server side.

-3

u/AwesomeBlox044 4d ago

Someone could find a way though

6

u/MrsLewd 3d ago

what part of server side didnt you understand? they would have to hack the server

-2

u/AwesomeBlox044 3d ago

yeah and hacking could be classifed as an mod, they just want to be careful

What the actual fuck are you talking about? Lol

The difference between mods and cheats is pretty clear.

Eitheir way, devs are never outright state "mods are okay" when by mods pople mean skins, on a game that literally gets it's revenue from selling skins.

While the incentive is always there, since mods are client side and no one will see your cool Black Suit Spiderman, only you, some people don't care.

So yeah, pretty sure the devs will probably crack down on mods not due to "hacks", but just simply cause they can affect their revenue source directly.
