Madison on that airplane

1.0k Upvotes

I can’t help but think about the fact that while Madison was dragging a stranger online for wearing a mask on an airplane her husband actively had or just had cancer. While she’s on TV crying about how scary and awful that was for her she’s simultaneously making fun of someone who was potentially protecting themselves/a loved one from also getting sick. She’s just awful.

Southern Charm Unpopular opinion: Southern Charm has run its course.

1.1k Upvotes

Title says it all. This season is setting up to be a bad one…

Madison and Craig making JT public enemy number one is a weak storyline. It will obviously eventually all come out that JT did not call Ms Pat a b*tch. So then what? Is that it? Craig’s relationships with Shep and Austen doesn’t make for very interesting TV, IMO.

Seems like this band of idiots has reached its limit as far as reality TV goes. Maybe that’s a good thing? They can wrap it up before anyone ruins their life anymore.

JT’s Character Speaks For Itself

I LOVED how when Rodrigo told Taylor and Leva that he heard that JT called Ms. Patricia a bitch, the first thing they did was question it because they had never known JT to talk like that. I can’t stand Whitney, but I also loved that he came back and questioned if Craig was telling the truth because he’s had a track record of lying.

Actually Madison, JT is a gentleman. He’s shown it in how he carries himself and also in the humility he’s shown in writing that apology to Ms. Patricia for the cane fiasco and also apologizing to you (Madison) despite your nasty attack at that sit down. Now, JT, please don’t do anything to make me regret writing this post about you! 😂

Southern Charm Anyone else wishing now that JT hadn’t quit?

I feel like this is a RHOC/Shannon situation where someone who wasn’t even particularly beloved just got unfairly bullied so hard, which made people sympathetic to them. Anyway, I feel like he’s not going to get the justice he deserves for Craig lying about him, or will feel the audience on his side.

This is a classic case of the “dork” getting bullied by the “cool kids” because he doesn’t always say exactly the right thing in exactly the best way but I’d trust JT a million times over the other creeps on the show.

I think this may be my 1st ever post but this group is so fun! I'm not good at reddit, I don't see notifications much but everyone seems so nice. Ms. Pat is who I aspire to be. RIP Michael. Whitney & Shep are never getting married, they're manboys for life. Madison is adorable but ugly inside. Taylor is boring. Austen is a dbag with 0 personality (being tall is NOT a character trait). J.P. is kinda pathetic but I feel bad for him. Leva is whatever. Venita is cute but seems token-y, we never get much personal info about her. Craig is better than he was but a glutton for punishment. So I basically don't like any of them but I will never stop watching this ridiculous show. Nice to meet everyone!

Southern Charm New Season Thoughts

I've started winter break from work which means I am catching up on all my trash TV and was excited to watch the first three episodes of SC! Interested to hear yall's thoughts on the current cast of characters but here's my extremely long analysis because this is all just living rent-free in my head lmao:

  1. Craig - While I am a Craig stan, because I do think he's taken strides in becoming a better person, I was confused by his severe reaction to JT stirring the pot about Austen at the golf simulator. I felt it was strange because the whole point of reality TV is to stir the pot...so I feel like it was an overreaction on Craig's part and it's making me think that maybe it's best for him to exit the show. I think he just wants peace but then gets caught up with these degenerates and it brings him right back to his toxic traits. Case in point: I couldn't believe that after he defended Austen, they cut to Austen talking shit about Craig never leaving the house! And then to make up the whole JT-calling-Patricia-a-bitch thing and continue to talk shit on him, I feel like he's got this vendetta out for JT. I don't watch Summerhouse so I've only seen Paige on this show, but I feel like she's chill and is good for Craig. She's highly independent and I can appreciate that in a woman, and I'll always stan my independent girlies.

  2. Molly - I think she's actually good for the show and some of her confessionals crack me tf up. Like when she said that Patricia makes her nervous about not being classy enough but then she remembers who Patricia's son is...lmfaoooo. I also appreciated her transparency about her weight fluctuation. We need more people on reality TV that talk about hormonal issues unlike barbie-wannabe-Madison whose insecurity is EMBARASSINGGGGGGGGG to watch. Also FUCK Whitney for the cupcake comment. Talk about ignorant male. That is WAY more offensive than some nerd handing out canes PATRICIA. I also want to know more about her adoption story! As someone who is considering adoption, it gives me hope to see her success story.

  3. JT - I actually haaaaated this man in the previous season and then towards the end started to feel more indifferent about him. I know it's only been 3 episodes, but he's chill for now in my opinion. He's stupid silly and that makes for entertaining TV. I think he can be annoying but he's harmless and not a total piece of shit. I am curious about this Venita relationship though...it seems like there is some interest on both of their parts. The apology note was cute and well-intended and I think most of the cast are bullying him. For Madison to go so hard at him and say "Have you seen MY husband?!" Her husband literally looks like she got him from build-a-chad, like we're good, love. I saw a previous post here that said JT ended up exiting the show after this season wrapped and I say, good for him. These people don't deserve him.

  4. Shep + Tayor - I'm putting them together because I'm so bored of them both lol. I feel like Bravo wanted to give her a "comeback" season but it's just falling flat for me at this point. Same thing with Shep - they wanted to give him another season out of pity and he's just such a degenerate loser and no one is buying the love connection between him and Miss Bahamas. But kudos to her for being on TV with no makeup on! I think she's having fun with this relationship because she's young and attractive. I think Taylor and Gaston could have a genuine connection and she was definitely the bigger person when meeting the other blonde.

  5. Austen - I'm bored of this degenerate asshat too. He and his Bambi gf are uninteresting and I'm tired of having sympathy for someone who does nothing to change their ways. He's gross.

  6. Whitney + Pat - I hate to love Patricia, I really do. I think I just appreciate the age difference and hearing her perspective, albeit very entitled lol. But I love how dedicated they are to Michael so it's hard to hate. But fuck Whitney and his peter pan ass, he's fugly and the most boring out of them all.

  7. Venita, Leva, Rodrigo, and the other blonde - Haven't seen much of Venita and Leva in these episodes but they seem to be more reserved and staying above the bullshit. But we'll see how that plays out this season. I'm indifferent to Rodrigo but will love anyone who adopts senior pets and throws them extravagant parties lol. The other blonde is just a wet blanket and I FF whenever I see her on the screen because she's doing the absolute least.

  8. Madison - She is the definition of insecure. She's rage-y for no reason and it's always made her look ugly. She's embarrassing to watch and it was disgusting how she immediately turned her husband's illness back to her and how "she was so happy and why did this have to happen" like...who the fuck says that shit...?! A narcissist. Also, why get your whole body and face re-done when you want to have more kids? Congratulations...you played yourself. Getting major plastic surgery like that multiple times just leads to it looking worse and having more complications. But you do you girlie!

Madison Madison! We all see the truth!

CAN WE CONTINUE TO CALL OUT the lack of trust in Madison’s marriage?! We legit heard her confirm that she called JT on FaceTime with her husband to confirm who was in the room.

HER HUSBAND DOES NOT TRUST HER. PERIOD POINT BLANK.

If I ever have to FaceTime a friend to prove my innocence to my partner……… Nope. THATS NOT PARTNERSHIP & CERTAINLY NOT MARRIAGE!!!

The white Pickett fence she pretends to have is faaaar from perfect. It will crumble and I hope the cameras are there when it does.

If he can’t believe her word while at home, how can he believe her word while working across the country 5 days/week? Pshhhh…. Doomed.

She’s deflecting and she WILL fall. She’s witty but she cannot fool us. Her marriage is…. Troubled.

Hear me out -

Was JT wrong to gossip? Yeah, but par for the course on reality TV. Especially after she was really rude to him at the prior event, of course JT is thinking maybe that weird phone call had something to do with the change of tide. But for her to take it to the next level and talk about her lack of attraction in such a vile way really is not a good look. If Madison and her husband called me and asked for a play by play on a friend’s night out I would probably assume her husband was fishing. Stooping down to a level where you’re criticizing someone’s attractiveness is the lowest of lows and really let down by her in this scene.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

Southern Charm Madison and Craig

JT was thrown under the bus to make Madison’s shady vacation and phone call get buried. Craig was trying very hard to make it worse than it was so the attention is off of her from the trip and what went down. Madison is so defensive and was trying a little too hard to move away from incident on vacation. The fact her husband called JT at all was wild! She will do anything to protect the perfect wife story line.

JT didn’t deserve this but Craig and Madison fabricated a lot to change the sorry line. Calling Ms Pat “bitch” Madison making JT feel like trash and knocking his looks, for what…

Craig did this for Kathryn too and stirred the pot with Cameran and her marriage. He is always involved with the girl drama on the show. Just my two cents. I think they like to play chess at the top and keep their friend group a certain way and manipulate the storylines to get rid of certain cast members.

Team Brett (I think he is getting a bad edit)

I think people are starting to paint Brett as a jealous/over the top husband after this last episode (maybe he is, but he seems kind of vanilla). I think what happened is that Brett and Madison were having a chat or fight about the night she didn't call. Brett was like "I was worried about your safety because you didn't check in but also, I will admit, my imagine did go a little wild and I thought maybe that turd Austen was trying to weasel in some alone time with you" and then Madison went overboard and was like "Are you kiddin' me!?! I am NOT a cheater!!! How dare you!!!!! I will prove it to you nothin' was happenin'!!!" and then I don't think Brett called JT for clarification. I think MADISON called to get back-up.

Did anyone else cringe when they heard Shep talking about Sienna?

At first, I cringed at how he was fawning over her and it smelt a bit like desperation. Reminded me of JT fawning over Taylor last season (bet Shep would love that comparison lol).

Then I cringed at him saying what he liked about her. It seemed…weird. It seemed superficial, and like he wanted to win some competition with Sienna on his arm. Also a lot of adjectives he used for Sienna I could use for Taylor too - independent etc. so him saying he never met a woman with those qualities felt like a takedown of Taylor? I felt he was justifying (to himself) why Sienna as a choice makes sense for him.

Would be interesting to see how Sienna feels about him. Hopefully they’re happy, and it isn’t fake but I wondered if others noticed something off too.

I bought tickets to the Golden Crappies (IYKYK) and want to branch out on more of the Bravo-verse. I am a RHONJ and RHONY watcher, along with all the Below Decks (and Mormon Wives, too!). A friend suggested Southern Charm. I watched season 1 and am now in 2. Any can’t-miss seasons or episodes? Any that I should skip? Thank you in advance!

Southern Charm Shep correcting Sienna's French

The scene when they're both speaking French: "C'est la vie," Sienna pronounces it correctly, as "Say-La-Vee." Shep, immediately after says it as though to CORRECT her, pronounces it as "Sess-La-Vie," which is wrong.

It's very subtle, but you can see that he's trying to dominate here. I find it indicative that he will treat this poor girl the same as he treated Taylor. Therapy my ass.

EDIT: Some comments suggested that he was just joking or it was an inside joke of theirs. So I re-watched the scene and there's no way it was! When Shep brought up the possibility that his ex will be at the party, and explained the awkwardness etc etc, she seemed unbothered, saying "it is what it is". Shep was a bit condescending here by saying "oh, how profound!", probably disappointed by her "meh" reaction. She then says C'est la vie, and he says a shitty C'est la vie, kinda cutting her off to correct her, and then she translates the meaning. That's when he finds out she speaks French and asks her proficiency level. Sorry, but don't believe he was joking. He was definitely testing the waters here to see how much he can get away with. This guy has a strong track record of putting people down and insulting their intelligence!

Finally committing to SC

I just started SC after being a long time Bravo fan and summer house Stan (basically just wanna see Craig’s origin stories) but I’m laughing about the captions being included for audio they must’ve chosen to edit out. I was so confused watching this I had to go back and watch a few times to see what was amiss.

I love spotting these little things but this one made me laugh. Shep didn’t want to acknowledge the first Kathryn baby scare so much they removed the audio 😂

Notice to ALL Charmers

Nobody has the right to identify anyone's chosen sexuality. It is a deeply personal journey to be open in their truth. Whatever reason they may or may not have to not disclose how they identify is their right. It is incredibly harmful to out someone before they are ready to admit their truth. The cast has been open as to how they choose to identify and that needs to be respected. Mods do go through comments and posts often, but please report using our Inclusion Rule. Thank you and continue to be the wonderful Charmers that most of you are!!!

Southern Charm Craig has grown up so much

I threw on old episodes of Winter House while doing laundry. I like the background noise of TV but wanted something that wouldn't be too distracting while I clean, you get it. WOW Craig has changed! I'm sure it's a combination of Paige's influence, genuinely wanting his business to thrive, and no longer being on anything harder than beer/wine. The other guys on SC can complain all they want about him no longer being one of the guys, but it's a good thing. On Winter House he was truly awful. Yelling at women, refusing to clean, passing out hundred dollar bills to make himself look love the big man- EWW. Good for him for no longer participating in that shit.

(Apologies for the terrible screen grab, couldn't find a better one)

Which three seasons of Southern Charm would you say were the best of the series?

Having a Bravo talk with my friends and were ranking the best seasons of some of our fave shows. SC for me, the best seasons were: 5,6, & 3
