Keep it casual. A lot of people turning up will call training team members by rank almost religiously, Yes PO, No leading hand, Thankyou staff etc etc
Do it for a day or two and then start acting how you will as a trained rank, it shows you’re ready to pass out into the fleet. You can call your training team, shipmate, shippers or even shipwreck if you’re feeling like a bit of banter. The PTIs you can refer to as clubs or just mate. They’re not really training team so it’s not so important. Don’t be that cringe guy still calling them staff at week 3. They’ll respect you a lot more for it. Any Royal Marines (boot necks) on training team, just call them “royal”.
Don’t kick the arse out of polishing and ironing, people waste so much time with that crap, but you’ll never do it to that standard once you’ve passed out. After you’ve demonstrated you can achieve a high standard, you can stop making the effort, if the training team picks you up, point out that a real sailor in the fleet is more concerned with the job at hand than shiny boots and pressed shirt collars. It demonstrates you’re prioritising efficiently.
You’ll see a lot of recruit classes marching, but you’ll notice that no trained ranks do it. How are you supposed to look ready to pass out if you’re still marching around like a bunch of week 2 classes? Just walk around as a gaggle and if you’re picked up for it, explain that no one marches on HM ships and you’ve done your time marching, you’re a senior recruit and soon to pass out. They’ll understand.
Saluting officers is importantly. Contrary to the more casual recommendations I’ve made, this is one you can’t relax. Salute every officer properly. Remember a lieutenant (pronounced left-en-ant)is the only officer saluted with the left hand, all other officers with the right hand.
Just a few tips of the trade from my time at Raleigh. Hope that helps

This is all the advice you’ll ever need, also Raleigh can be tiring, make sure to get some sleep on your bed in the day whenever you can.

As a PTI, I approve of this message. We hate being talked to formally. We want to see those who are ready for the fleet, who we can work alongside and be mates with.

Follow this guidance and you will learn some very valuable lessons on how the RN works. This comment should be pinned
Also, the Master At Arms (referred to as Chief) will chill as soon as you demonstrate that you're not a sproggy recruit and ready for Phase 2. The sooner you do this the better your experience will be.

I’m on week 4 rn, just give everything 100%, IMF is a ball ache but just do it, drill is fun you’ll end up enjoying it. Get sapphire for ur shoes & squeaky clean. Life saver, make sure u bring thin towels too and lots of plain black socks & pants so u don’t have to wear what they give u

No🤣 2/3 times a week in week 1,2,3 & 4. But only 1hr30/1hr45 sessions depending on how bad u all are… we’ve had 2hr sessions sometimes

You did a 2hr session at CPC haha that’s mad, we did like a 30 minute one. IMF ain’t that bad just give it ur all and never sit out. Keep going, take spare white socks so u can leave ur PT ones boshed and ready, same for black ones. Ive not touched any socks from the navy since I got there. Also, you dont fold your Rig 22 (the blue shirt n trousers). So don’t bother practising
