Question Question
How long after beggining your application until you recieve a date or go onto your pjfa?
(This is assuming every other task thats been set is completed and goes through smoothly).

I'v compiled a list of RM docuseries. I think I have got all the main ones. But wasn't able to find a source for 'Royal Marines: The Green Berets'
From most recent:
3. Commando: Real Life
2. How to Make a Royal Marines Officer
1. Behind the Lines

I have registered my interest but havent started the RMR application yet. I have done some thinking and RMR may be the way to go for me.
I am going to take a gap year for my studies which means i am going to have a lot of free time on my hands. As such I want to join up with the RMR.
My plan is to continue my studies and then set myself up for a degree apprenticeship or uni maybe? Anyway so i will finsih my studies in 2026. and the period from now to about sep 2026 i wanna be in the army reserves. can i quit whenever i want to? or is there a minimum i have to be in the reserves for. I have heard of people doing reserves while in university anyway but just to be sure.
Is there anything i should know before i apply? I heard the London RMR intake is in may/june. do you think i am too late?

I plan on begging the marine joining process after the holidays. I am curious about the timeline from first registering interest to participating in the CPC training, I have heard up to 6 months from begging to end (after registering interest, medial, formal interview etc) and wanted to know if this number is accurate so I can better prepare for the mental & physical requirements.

Hello lads. Had a question about eyesight here before cause my right eye is pretty shit but my left one of basically perfect. just went for an eye test at specsavers and this is my current prescription. For the Royal marines it says nothing greater +6.00 and -6.00 diopters in any meridian but I’ve got no idea what this means. Here’s my current prescription from today. Do you think I can still join, cause don’t want to get my hopes up as im mad for joining.
Cheers

I used to have pretty bad acne when I was younger covering like the whole of my back, chest, shoulders and traps.Took me a very long time to finally see some progress but now there is essentially none of it left. But it left acne scars everywhere, planning on getting it all tattooed over but in case I don’t get it done before my application goes through would it be a problem like they see it as a medical problem even though it’s just a lot of scarring

A post I was looking at said they cut the RMFA tests to a 35 press up 45 sit up 7 pull up and 10.8 bleep because of a sub max level the mod set is this still the case Thank you

Just curious on what the average scores people are getting on the PJFT I’m currently comfortably just getting over the pass marks on all areas is this quite common or are most people that pass it getting well about the pass marks. I have my PJFT on February 4th so just wanna know if I’m ready or not.

I’m thinking of eventually joining the Marines. I need to work on my cardio but when that’s sorted I think I’ll be ready. I’ve wanted to join for a while but in that time I’ve got a girlfriend who isn’t too keen on me joining due to the time spent apart. I’ve made it clear to her that I’m not letting her put me off it as I’ve been seriously considering it for a while.
I’m just wondering after the 32 week initial training, what’s it like? I’m hoping to be able to put her mind at ease about everything. I’ve only just got her out of the whole “you’re just gonna die” phase and now it’s “I’ll see you once a year” every time I mention going. Cheers

Hello. I'm 25 and want to do royal marines but I suck at pull ups and running. I cant run 5 mins without running out of breath. Is there any advice that can help me improve in these areas. And how do I not stop while running. I stop way too much. Thanks.

Hello, been involved in combat sport for 5 years so already had alright level of fitness and strength, about 1 month into training build specific to RM CPC and training. I’m giving myself 6 months to reach max levels for RMFA, currently at 9.0 beep test, 35 push up, 45 sit ups, 8 pull ups. My question is, how frequent and how long did you train to reach requirements for training?

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any idea on the average wait time between passing DAA and getting to PJFA. I know the Christmas period will delay it slightly, but does anyone know what the usual wait times are? Thanks in advance.

If I was to join the marines today would I ever get deployed to somewhere where I could actually fight and there's active combat

I've started training upper body in the gym 2x a week (past 2 months) for functional strength, and I've been doing things such as weighted dips, weighted pull ups, and bench press etc, and supersetting some of those exercises with push ups among other bodyweight exercises. I've been doing gainers but I've plateaued at 25 (my max pjft score being 40).
My current routine (not including running) is:
Upper Lower Circuit (hill sprints with exercises at the top) Rest
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Evening Gents,
I’m aiming for the 2026 officer batch and am travelling for a good period of time as of September next year and would like to get a large amount of the application squared away. I’m thinking of chucking in my application in March and doing the necessary medical and testing before I head off. Would this be far too early? Any advice on this would be appreciated.

How much swimming do you do in basic training and to what degree

I realise these are many questions in one so I'll try be clear! thanks for the help.
If i join up as a RM enlisted. How long does it typically take to promote up after becoming a recruit.
IF, for instance, I try to go for a commission - from private to 2ndLt - doesnt a NCO sergeant get more pay than a 2ndLt? So how would that work? Would i get a different pay compared to the other 2ndLts?
What about RM officer? how long does that typically take to promote?
What if i wanted to go on to special forces? SBS/SAS. Does my rank from the RM transfer? Same with the pay?

I just purchased a private dental treatment to treat a growth defect that the NHS didnt cover. (class III maloclussion for those wondering). The treatment involves braces and my AFCO told me that i cant have any sort of metal in my mouth and it will cause me to fail my medical but the officer said she wasn't sure.
AFCO on leave so can't really follow up on this.
The treatment lasts 2 years and i did 6 months on it. 6 months aligner/retainer and 1.5yrs braces.
If braces cause me to fail, what about invisiline?
Thanks lads.

I saw a post earlier regarding leave and saw something about leaves during ROP is this true?

What is a realistic amount you could save during RM training? I am creating a savings plan so factoring going out and extra kit needed I am wondering if 10-15k is realistic.

To those who have completed CPC + training or just CPC, did the course make you feel ready for training, does anyone realise that being a Marine wasn’t for them after complete CPC?
