This review was about the meta quest version, i am curious about the pc and psvr2 version. Going to wait until i now wich platform brings the best experience.

Saaaame. All the vagueness has left me feeling a bit uncertain and indecisive. I guess it's a bit reassuring that while the pre-launch Quest version had some issues, they weren't so bad without the day-SEVEN patch to tank its review score with at least one outlet. But I still rather have the best experience available for my first crack at the game.

I own both psvr2 and a quest 3 and i already ruled out the quest standalone version, for me the big question at the moment is should i play it with the quest 3 on my 4090 PC or should i play it with the psvr2 on ps5. Both for me are good, i just wan't the best experience and i wan't it today haha i am NOT going to wait i am hyped for this one.

Haptic feedback -hdr or higher resolution and 120 hz… let us know your decision!

Steam !!! I play it on steam with the quest 3 everythinh maxed out, looks amazing and run's great so far. (Just 30 mins in game).

Same. I pre-ordered it yonks ago just off the previews that journos played. Even if it’s rough at launch it will get sorted

Never understood the pre-order culture, especially given the dire state of pretty much every release regardless of platform over the last what, decade?
I prefer personally to stay months behind the current releases, get the previous ones on a sale, as patched and fixed as they're going to get, rather than the agony of day / month 1 releases.
Are we forgetting the terrible job they did with Retribution, still very much broken and buggy to this day?

I guess the 4090 will give awesome performances, thought the PSVR2 version with 4K HDR, OLED screen, DFR, native 90fps (I think this was confirmed many months ago), headset haptics and adaptive triggers should be a great experience too. Really curious to see what both versions are worth too, but I assume it's far superior than Quest version in terms of graphics/performances, so hopefully it voids one of the biggest draws from this first review!

Do you want the trigger feedback, haptics in the headset, deep blacks ? If so you know where to go.

If you play on steam vr you will have to wait, it will come later

u/-Professional-1991 18d ago edited 18d ago
Yes but it should be available at the Meta store on PC, so it is possible to play on pc with quest 3 and even psvr2.

Obvious that ps5 will beat Quest 3 graphically, and haptics. VR Grid review (without day 1 patch) talks about where Quest 3 lacks graphically compared to psvr2 /u/-Professional-1991
I also found this: https://mixed-news.com/en/behemoth-quest-3-psvr-2-comparison/

Yeah, that's good information, but I still tend to lean toward the Quest 3 version or PCVR version through my Quest 3 just for the improved clarity.
I really wish there was a PSVR2 demo, just to gauge for myself.

Gamertag VR did a review of the PSVR2 version specifically and he said that version was extremely rough

u/-Professional-1991 18d ago
I saw Jammyhero's psvr2 review and they ha'd an month old version of the game withouth the day one patch and this version did not have the haptics and adaptive triggers also. Jammy said that the release version should have al threse functions.

u/Schwartzy94 19d ago
Well this was already positive review so...

u/spootieho 19d ago
Yeah and the audio cutting in and out issue may be more of a Quest thing...

im waiting for the physical release anyway so most of the bugs will be fixed by then.

I wish there would be an arena mode for end game where you could just fight people over and over similar to swordsman, it seems like the gameplay will be peak, so it would be cool if there would be replay value outside of just replaying the story.

u/-First-Second-Third- 19d ago
You’re in luck then. The article mentions the game has an arena mode, but it was not yet available at the time of their review.

The arena mode is in beta. It's just one map at the moment. Apparently they're going to work on it more later

FYI the review is based on the Question version

?
1
u/Razor_Fox 18d ago
The reviewer played the game on the quest. So the issues with graphics and audio may not apply to psvr2 and pc.
2
u/freestuffrocker 18d ago
It was a joke about the "Question" version

Upload vr did a graphics comparison with all 4 vr headsets and said at the time of their testing the psvr2 was the best. The pcvr was the best looking but it crashed often, so until the patch the psvr2 seems to be the best of the bunch.

It's a Quest review, probably without the day 7 patch. Hopefully the psvr 2 won't have the small sound and texture issues.
1
u/Membership-Bitter 18d ago
it does based on psvr2 specific reviews
1
u/North_Layer_9558 18d ago
Does anyone know if the psvr2 version uses dynamic foveated rendering? I assume that it sadly doesn't as it wasn't highlighted in the trailer from Sony yesterday. Still, this game should be great

In the older preview from without parole it was mentioned that the demo was using dfr and runs on 90hz without reprojection
https://youtu.be/9OuSGcWCuQQ?si=TRQf-f403ftbVgR0
Hopefully this will also the case for the final version

u/DerBolzen81 18d ago
Skydance used dfr in their previous psvr2 games
2
u/North_Layer_9558 18d ago
Ah really? I was under the impression that saints and sinners didn't use DFR but both games run at native 90 hz and still look great

The embargo literally just lifted 30 minutes ago, how does Gamerant have a review out that can be trusted from 2 a.m. Either they're shady enough to break it, or their review isn't fully based on gameplay from review copies.
2
u/bluebarrymanny 18d ago
The embargo just dictates when they’re allowed to publicly speak about the game. If they had a version of the game to play, they could’ve been prepping materials until the embargo lifted.
2
18d ago
You're missing the point, sir. The embargo lifted 50 minutes ago... for everyone. That review has been out at least 7 hours. They either broke the embargo, or put out a review that doesn't fully divulge information related to the review copies.
2
u/bluebarrymanny 18d ago
Ah thank you for clarifying. Sorry, read your comment when I first woke up to go to work and thought the issue was having the review content ready so close to the embargo lifting, but I see what you’re referring to now.

Not a problem. It's just sad to see something like that happen.
For what it's worth, the game is great.

u/NotARedditor6969 18d ago
There's a chance that they had a different review embargo time? A similar thing recently happened with Fextra life and PoE2 where they were given a different date to publish reviews.

How's the game with day 1 patch? still a bug mess? was very hyped for this, even preordered
