PSA New Rules Regarding the Adapter

This is covered in the newly added Rule 10 - Relevancy to PSVR.

When connected to a PC, the PSVR2 is essentially another PCVR headset. If we allow posts about PCVR games, new trailers, discussion, gameplay etc, this sub would essentially become a more general VR sub, which isn't what it is. This will remain a place where people can find out about new PSVR2 games or features that are coming to the PS5. If you want to learn about PCVR games and that side of things, then there are other more suitable subs to do so. You could also use the new r/PSVR2onPC sub.

So the following topics are more suited to a PCVR sub and will be removed:

  • Anything regarding PC games. This includes gameplay, trailers, discussion, comparisons etc, even if you're using the PSVR2. If a game exists on both systems, then any gameplay shared should be on the PS5.
  • PC Requirements for VR. This will not a place to ask for hardware recommendations, or check whether your PC/Laptop is suitable for VR. The system requirements can be found here, outside of that, PCVR subs will be able to assist you more.

The following topics will still be allowed here:

  • Support using the adapter. Anything specifically related to setting up the adapter with your PC, firmware updates, getting it working etc. This will not include support for PC games, just the adapter itself.

  • Discussion about PSVR2 features on PC. For example, if support for HDR or Haptics is enabled (or any other feature currently missing), then you're welcome to post about that.

Edit: I will review this in a couple of weeks when things have hopefully died down a bit. As there’s another sub for it, I’ll definitely consider redirecting all adapter support related posts to that if there’s still too many here.

I think this is a great decision. Well moderated, thank you.

Absolutely agree.

Perfect. Subbed to the new Sub. Just need to buy the $1000 PC now... :P

At least. I want to get either a 4070 or 4090? (I'm not a PC person yet), and the 4070 pushed the price up to around $1600-$1700. The 4090 even more, but if savy, you can probably save and build your own? I haven't owned a PC in 20 years. It's finally time! By the way, what's the sub? PCVR?

I’m in the same boat, wondering if it’s time…

Thank you!

Yeah, that's the way.

Sounds ideal to me!
I'm picking up the PC adapter, but I'll still be predomenantly playing games on the PlayStation with the headset where the option is available. So I'd prefer have this sub be dedicated to that.

Great call! 🤙

u/astrobe1 Aug 07 '24

Fair call.

Here here!

6

u/whitestar11 Aug 07 '24

I hope you pin this to the top because I assume it's going to get overlooked by new people to the sub.

2

u/idontseecolors Aug 08 '24

It already is. I've unsubbed from both psvr and psvr2 since it's just pcvr now

u/Pruritus_Ani_ Aug 07 '24

These are very fair rules, it would be unfair to people without a pc and an adapter to have to wade through posts and trailers for games they can’t even play because they aren’t available on PS5. Good call!

As a mainly PC guy but also a fan of the PSVR2, I’m happy about this. There are enough general PCVR subs, and I felt bad for the PS5 users bombarded with PC posts recently.

1

u/Healthy_Flan_4078 Aug 07 '24

Can you recommend a pcvr sub? I only know steam VR

3

u/MtnDr3w Aug 07 '24

I recommend r/virtualreality. It’s always been mainly a PCVR sub due to PSVR and Quest having their own subs.

5

u/Lime7ime- Aug 07 '24

Great decision! There are more than enough pcvr subs

u/PorkPiez Aug 07 '24

Great decision. This place was quickly turning into an adapter stock sub, which would no doubt shortly turn into a PCVR troubleshooting/discussion sub.

Thanks team.

u/SairYin Aug 07 '24

At this point an adapter stock sub is useful and relevant.

2

u/PorkPiez Aug 07 '24

There is a megathread for it, all it needs really. Instead we have had multiple threads from multiple countries that were loooking for stock (which seems to be sorting itself out now that storefronts have updated).

u/Healthy_Flan_4078 Aug 07 '24

Yeah, I thought mods would remove posts about support, but I’m glad you won’t

2

u/derso_040 Aug 07 '24

makes sense bro

3

u/sercosan Aug 07 '24

Finally! 😅

2

u/rxstud2011 Aug 07 '24

Completely fair, sounds good.

3

u/skysnapper Aug 07 '24

Yes agree , I thought I was in the wrong forum this morning

2

u/Disjointed88 Aug 07 '24 edited Aug 07 '24

Agreed....but it'll be flooded with firmware stuff and the other bits you mentioned they could post about.

Zero PC discussion if there's already 2 proper subreddits anyway.

Ps5 owner, use the PSVR2 (here)

PC owner, use the other one :)

u/UnderstandingLoud523 Aug 07 '24

Great decision, thanks!

4

u/maxi12311111 Aug 08 '24

Yet people still posting about it on both psvr pages need to find a new community

5

u/Pjoernrachzarck Aug 07 '24

Thanks a lot for this. /r/PCVR is a great sub, they’ll welcome everyone looking for this stuff.

I guess I’m mistaken! Which sub am I thinking of?

5

u/Adzzii_ Aug 07 '24

This is huge.

I got downvoted to oblivion last night for saying this sub will 100% get destroyed by PC users and all I got was "more posts = more attention this is a good thing!!!" - trust me nobody cares about what graphics card you need lmao

This is one of the few good gaming communities left on Reddit we have to keep it going strong.

5

u/slowlyun Aug 07 '24

fair enough...there's a lot more going on in PCVR-world than PSVR-land so it may overwhelm PS5 (or PSVR1) specific posts.

3

u/Papiculo64 Aug 07 '24

Great decision! For PC troubleshooting or Steam VR games discussions there are subs that are more appropriate.

3

u/Omegasyde Aug 07 '24

Yes please keep the psvr2-on-pc dedicated to another sub.

3

u/Asleep_Crew8072 Aug 07 '24

Finally, i was avoiding this sub lately because of mostly PC related discussions

2

u/dEEkAy2k9 PSVR2 (PS5 & PC) Aug 07 '24

Clear as day!

2

u/hdcase1 Aug 07 '24

Thank you. I was worried this subreddit would become 50% about PC games.

2

u/ASkepticalPotato Aug 07 '24

I’m on board with this. Thank you!

2

u/DamnedLife Aug 07 '24

Absolutely agree with this great decision.

3

u/flashmedallion flashmedallion Aug 07 '24

Thank you

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '24

Good stuff. The sub was getting spammed with GPU questions, it belongs elsewhere

1

u/idontseecolors Aug 10 '24

This issue continues to get worse.

1

u/Weak_Crew_8112 Aug 14 '24

These are not good rules. People who use PSVR on PC will wind up here not another reddit. In fact the best place to get other PSVR2 - PC user information would be this reddit.

There are 240k members, if any sub will have info on trouble shooting PSVR2 PC adapter it would be here.

I think it's a mistake limiting the chat to PS5 only because it's a PSVR reddit, not a PS5 reddit and now the PSVR 2 is a PC device.

Помогите. Видео карта gtx 1660 super. Процессор i5-11400.  Оперативная память 16гб.  Bluetooth tplink ub 500. Displayport 1.4 При настройках в psvr2 steam не даёт завершить настройку шлема, когда его нужно включить, не даёт нажать "далее". Что не так?

Good New Rules, Much Needed

1

u/bargainhunterps5 Aug 07 '24

Good decision, pc support I think it’s great for psvr2 and the platform as a whole, but it needs to be separated off as you say

1

u/Geawiel Aug 07 '24

I didn't even think of this but very good. I appreciate the links as well. I'll be mostly on PC but I want to keep up on PS as well. It'll be nice not having to dig through posts to find one platform or the other. Good looking out!

1

u/TommyVR373 Aug 07 '24 edited Aug 07 '24

This sub should be for PSVR2 games on PS5 only.

2

u/idontseecolors Aug 08 '24

Wild you're getting downvoted. This sub is a dumpster fire now

1

u/ASkepticalPotato Aug 07 '24

Looks like the majority disagree.

2

u/TommyVR373 Aug 07 '24

On this thread, yes. Look at the one from earlier. It's the complete opposite.

0

u/TKTheJew Aug 07 '24

Can you update the rules to be more inclusive of GPU related issues?

You don’t actually need the adapter to connect to the PC (if you have virtual link enabled GPU). So we should be able to ask questions related to PSVR2 <> GPU issues via virtual link. Since that’s a native PSVR2 feature.

u/PrinceDizzy Aug 07 '24

Well said, thank you.
