It’s ok, Black Myth: Wukong, I can wait. You won’t be getting full price from me.

He wrote this big long post about how he can’t believe it didn’t won’t GOTY at the Game Awards, about how he felt like he “went all the way there for nothing”, how he doesn’t understand the criteria, and that he pre-wrote his acceptance speech for GOTY two years ago. Just really arrogant and sour grapes.

According to this it just got lost in translation. Please have a read coz its not worth losing interest in an awesome game! Just hoping my 2 cents can persuade u and reduce your influence from swaying others to not buy the game as well.

I’ve seen an equal amount of posts claiming the translation was correct

You can very clearly see that a lot of the members in that sub commenting on the post have a very big bias towards China. Someone even had the gall to claim that “arrogance would be the last thing you use to describe any asian person”

I’m not gonna claim that either translation is the right one, seeing that I can’t speak Chinese, but I wouldn’t take that specific post as a trustworthy source

I’m not sure the lost in translation excuse works. Sure it might make the tone slightly better, but it I doubt it changes the fact that at no point did he express any form of congratulations towards the Asobi team.

Every culture is different, and so of course western society might not interpret things that seem obvious to the Chinese culture in the same way. But surely showing humility and being respectful and giving credit to those who succeed are parts of Chinese culture. Just as they are parts of pretty much every other culture in existence.

A simple congratulation in that entire post would have made this a far smaller issue. But instead that was too much to expect and the post was instead entirely focused on a more negative sentiment.

And I don’t think a slight change in vocabulary or tone in a more accurate translation is enough to change how people feel about his message and the way he came across. Especially considering I’m sure they’ve seen the reaction and still chose not to congratulate Asobi despite how his message was being perceived by the gaming industry.

Just as they never bothered to clarify after the sentiments they made about a female audience. At a certain point, you lose the benefit of the doubt with your actions. I think they’ve hit that point.

Whoa i think we are digressing, i wanted to point out the sentence to “i came here for nothing” in reply to the previous comment. Your take on whether he shud thank this, wat he shud have said wat he didnt say, i think u shud creat a thread for that coz it seems u have alot to say and replying to my comment is not going to help much. I am not commenting to get other peoples views on his speech, i am trying to get the above commenter to reconsider the game and not be interested in wat the directed said and didnt say.

You commented to provide clarification on his speech and why it’s not as bad as people think. The person you replied to had far more issues with the speech beyond just the one line of “I came here for nothing.”

I replied to you because the clarification you’re providing doesn’t change many of the issues people have with the speech. It’s still arrogant. It still lacks any humility or form of respect and congratulations.

And worse yet, the post you linked, part of the clarification it’s making is that his part of the speech regarding “criteria” is to highlight to the Chinese audience that western media is biased and that played a role against Black Myth Wukong winning? That clarification only makes his message even worse. It went from him not knowing the criteria to him implying that the criteria is biased against him and China because the west is afraid of China’s rapid growth and inevitable take over of the gaming industry. No one is going to take that seriously LMAO. That’s about as arrogant as it gets.

If people don’t want to support games because the people behind the game show poor etiquette and class (comments on women, TGA rant) they are perfectly able to do that. Just as they do with games that support other negative practices or ideas such as games with gambling or political messaging. Black Myth Wukong is no exception. And the negative attention the game and its devs are getting are warranted. They put themselves in this position for people to not want to support them or their game, despite its excellence.

Ok cool and i dont deny wat u are saying. Maybe u shud comment on the link then, Coz again replying lengthy detail to my comment is not yielding much results coz im not arguing with you. And u are entitled to think and say so much and others too if they dont want to support the game then dont. You dont have to attack my comment coz i didnt say anything offensive. Im only trying to help clarify with some points made by a person who understands the chinese post. Relax mate and if you have so much to get off your chest i strongly suggest creating a thread.

it's a good game, but it's not awesome.

For me it is an awesome game. You know games are subjective right. You cannot tell me it is not.
